One day you will have both. Can't you use summoning jitsu?!

Sadly I can only summon wishes xP

Can't you summon yourself a wish for a PS4 then? I don't want to hear can't and do not. Let's do this people! Just concentrate really hard and make it happen!

yeah it is OP, i leveled up a lot of weapons and Ludwigs was by far the best, its also quick (for heavy weapons) and has good length. i only have one character through and i focused my upgrades on skill, strength and health.

even from the old hunters, Ludwigs blade is still the best (the moonlight sword isnt prett bad though)

I didn't like Ludwigs at all

Blade of Mercy and Rakuyo felt much better to use

I really liked the blade of mercy, i didnt spend mich time with the Rakuyo sadly, as i got it near the end of my time with bloodborne. Blade of Mercy is great, but i generally prefered heavier stronger weapons than quick skill weapons. though blade of mercy is great when it comes to PvP.

Didn't had a Skill build in Bloodborne and still used Ludwig's blade.
It's really one of the best weapons in the game!

I'm a proper noob at these games. I started out with the Razor blade thing but when I got Ludwig's I leveled it up to the max and brute forced my way through bosses, invaders and chalice dungeons.

Done the same in DS3 with Astoras greatsword, Great Hollow Sword and the great Wolf sword.

Here is a little Bloodborne clip to show you what I mean by brute force (on Ng+):

Well, even for hunter's axe you get more damage from each skill point BEFORE 25 skill than each strength point AFTER 25 strength. And on top of that put more point on skill gives you greater visceral attack dmg.

So, the best early game build to get max dmg for both Hunter's Axe AND Ludwig's Holy Blade is 25 strength and 25 skill. After that you can invest more point on STR. If you want to be STR build.

Thats a pretty good breakdown. Thanks.

Right now I have 21 in STR and 12 in SKL so theres a pretty big disparity. Bananaking said I should just do the Chalice dungeons to earn quick echos so i'll probably do that. And honestly I kinda prefer the axe right now. The halberds charged R2 hits twice and knocks enemies to the ground. Ludwig's can't do that. And is it me or is the longsword form of Ludwig's weaker than the onehanded axe?

Stick with the axe, put it in Trick Mode, and spam R2.

Yea, that Halberd's R2 is pretty sweet. I like the overall moveset too. I might just use both. lol

I think many people like ludwig's holy blade beacuse its high flat dmg number, and it's flexible. The small sword form is quick but only deals around 60-70% dmg of the large sword. And the most op move of the blade is the 2h fully charged R2, it hits like a truck.

Things about hunter's axe that are better than ludwig's holy blade: longer reach especially 2h form,  much greater rally potenial(it is the HP you regain after you take a hit from enemy then hit back) allows you trade hp more effectively,  as you mentioned above 2h R2 charge, and 2H L2 is great for taking down mutiple enemeies as well. In general, holy blade may have better damage, but the axe just have better move set IMO.

Yea, thats what i've come to realise. I pretty much solely use the axe right now though i'm still leveling Skill. I just prefer the moveset and I switch between modes based of the enemy i'm fighting to parry. One-handed Ludwig is kinda shitty.

I didn't even release there was someone in Gascoigne's boss room. I'll go back later and check it out. I sort of have a vauge idea of whats going on the in the world but the details would be welcomed. I assume Hunter's Dream plays a big part in the story.

I just got the Ludwig's blade. The range and stagger is awesome but I figure i'm going to need a lot more Skill to so serious damage.

Oh, and what the fuck is that giant invisible monster that grabs you randomly from anywhere in the game and kills you with one hit? Its starting to piss me off.

he isnt in the gascoigne boss room, he is in the catherdral ward. i didnt explain properly enough. though, it wouldnt hurt to do a quick search of gascoignes boss room.

you are still early in the game, dont worry to much about your level, you will level up a lot as you go through with the game. remember to upgrade you weapons with bloodgems as well as regular upgrades.

regarding the invisible monster

what it is? you will see in time. as you progress through the game you will know what it is.

can you kill it? No.

how to avoid it? easy, just run/dodge when you hear it coming for you, it just comes at very specific locations.

is it related to the story? Yes in a way. if you understand what it is, it can help you understand the lore.

there is an area that you might have discovered (considering you finished the blood starved beast) where there is a huge door and that thing keeps appearing. that area is for later, so dont worry about it.

also some none spoilish tips

if you see a lit lantern next to a door/window, or light emitting from inside, it most likely means you can go and talk to people behind those doors/windows. you might have missed a few in the first area, and there are some in the area you are at currently.

in case you never played a souls game before. when you finished the game, it jumps directly to a NG+, so dont finish it if you arent done doing stuff. (it will be very clear when it is the end of the game).

Just beat the Witch of Hemwick and Vicar Amelia and i'm at the forest right now. The story is getting pretty interesting right now, especially after the cutscene in the Grand Cathedral.
