Forums - Gaming - How long until VR kills someone?

I think there might be quite a few deaths due to VR:
-people's furniture catching fire and the person using VR not realizing it(remember the dude that smoking a cigarette while playing Minecraft burned his whole house ?);
-people getting heart attacks due to intense games;
-people falling while using motion controls and hitting with their head whatever kind of edge because they didn't see it...

lol, I don't know why but the thread title cracks me up

So, are we talking VR user error? Or some kind of Skynet situation where VR becomes sentient and decides to exterminate the human race?

Easy, make a game that requires spinning around a lot, bound to be someone that strangles himself with the cord.

I wonder why there hasn't been a crime show yet with people getting hypnotized via VR and jump of a balcony. It probably will be when csi cyber nonsense comes back. VR hack the mind.

Yeah, that will be what everyone thinks as they sadly mourn the person in their family who has died while playing a game.... until they give the PS4 to the kids brother and he finds the disk of the HD remaster of Autoerotic Asphyxiation Heroes inside.... sad awkward times.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

i'm not kidding either,.. that's why i made the thread.

i love the part where he tries to put out the fire but putting cardboard on top of the flames.

Like any other form of home entertainment, VR will probably save more lives than cause deaths:

The more you stay at home instead of searching entertainment in public, the smaller are the chances you get in a traffic accident, get mugged, get in a bar fight, die in an airplane crash, fall to death while climbing a mountain...

Bruce Wayne's parents probably still would live a happy life if they had watched some good shows on Netflix / played some games / visited foreign places in VR / played some VR games / read some books or magazines / surfed the web / participated in stupid forum discussions or had sex at home instead of leaving the house and going into the theatre that night. ;)

It's gonna be a death game yo. True permanent death.

Actually accidental falls are pretty close to deaths by car accidents, and surprisingly accidental poisoning deaths beats both. Cooking mama is the true killer.

I wonder which genius is going to drive his car in 3rd person mode first, using a VR headset and a drone following from behind. No reason VR can't cause traffic deaths.

If humankind is already capable of punching people and destroying tvs with motion controls, imagine that with a big headset on your head that does not let you see the real world.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I mean... thats like asking if you can ever truly idiot proof anything.

I came here expecting to see some deaths already. I'm relieved/disappointed.
