Forums - Gaming - Nintendo E3 - No direct; only treehouse featuring Zelda

Its as if Nintendo has just given up (on everything Wii U related). I guess they're saving everything for the NX.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Funny thing, I won't see any part of Nintendo's E3 for years since it's just Zelda-related as I'm in an information blackout XD.

@Wyrdness I agree. With the spread of Internet, the spread of streaming pages like Twitch, YT, etc... It's just pointless to stick to an event when you can easily do your own thing and get all the gaming and media attention only to you XD. And not share your new info on the E3, fighting to see which company gets the first spot.

Indeed, just wait for all the U-turns when they do their own event later this year it'll be equivalent of when Nintendo first opted to do digital events and not a stage show. I still remember the reaction and how many people got shut down hard after it turned out to be a good idea, just watch when they do their own event it'll be the same thing all over again and I can see other companies following suit to do their own events instead of relying on E3.

Ehm... Sony does its own event since 2014... Doesn't mean (almost) skipping E3 is a good idea.

Yep, E3 is a past's thing. Nintendo's digital format is really good, they proved that in the past, now it's time to move on and do their own thing, without the need of sticking to E3. They're showing Zelda because it's already time to show it. No need to rush the NX reveal.

Please bold/link the part that says "no direct".

I think that I get the idea. They want to do a Nintendo-only event, outside of the E3, where to drop the bombs. Maybe they don't want to be overshadowed by the other companies and just do their own thing. Now we're living in the Internet era, E3 is losing their importance. It's not relevant anymore.

Don't expect the E3 to be relevant in the next years. Nintendo is just ahead. And some other big companies are not in the E3 as well. I'm still pissed at them for the Zelda delay, this doesn't bother me a lot, I think it's a natural step.

Then its a big mistake to waste the Zelda re-re-re-reveal at E3. If this event is not important anymore, why to waste the last Wii U game on it? and considering this is most likely an NX game, it would have been better to have its own event or wait until the NX event later, than sacrifice the game at the E3.

Before PS4 they never did own events and left it all to E3, this highlights how less and less relevant E3 is becoming, Nintendo blew all the other companies out the water with the E3ND in 2014 but it never helped the Wii U. Fact is most people here and on forums think it's a bad idea not because it of any relevant reasoning but because E3 now days only purely caters to them with no other relevance to what's going on in the market, it's a passing day dream and after it normal service will resume with PS4 continuing to outsell everything else because other factors have long decided that.

To put it bluntly no one on forums wants to see E3 die down because it entertains only them and for it to become less relevant means the one date dedicated to entertaining the forum mobs would become nothing more than an optional appearance for any company.

I think that might be damage control after reveal that the game is going to be delayed recently. Kind of, "let's show the game to calm people down". It was first shown... 2 years ago? I think the wait is really enough XD.

One game, no direct, no press conference - It is so clear that the focus shifted to NX. I hope , it won't become as embarassng as last year's E3.
