Forums - Nintendo - How long after the NX is released will Nintendo keep its servers on for its main Wii U games....

Trust me... with Kimishima in power. Nintendo will be pushing Wii U owners to beg for the upgrade months before the NX launches. They are literally causing a drought for the Wii U owners. The console is basically abandoned since Star Fox's release. The only thing we'll be getting is washed up 3rd party games that were already in the pipeline. Which is almost none.

I agree with you and i hope we are both wrong- but i think Kimishima is wanting to start w as clean a slte as possible and putting the wii u behund them asap is/will be part of that -    I guess it will ultimately depend on how many wii u owners make the jump to NX and how quickly they do so

That's why you always need a backup plan like having a PC and a N3DS with you :P No drought then !

Damn straight! ;P I still got my 3DS, PS4, and PC. As for the N3DS? Screw that thing. I actually never liked the XL versions. The pixels look stretched and larger. I very much notice this to a great extent and it REALLY bugs me. I can't even stress this enough. The DPI is way too low for my liking. I really like my turquoise 3DS I got day one, and the circle pad pro is so much better than the tiny nub. It works like a charm.

Lets be real, because of the pixel density. Some of the games looked AMAZING. Resident Evil revelations looked better than the shitty PS3/360 port. Dead or Alive looked as good as DoA 4 on 360. Snake Eater 3D looked stunning, personally I thought it looked better than the HD remaster imho and I loved the small changes. I thought it made some fantastic use of the 3D. The bees from The Pain was OMFG!!! Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask look amazing.

The biggest problem with the 3DS is the past year or 2 the graphic quality went down. The first 2 years were HOLY SHIT! I know that both the 3DS and PS Vita were originally intended to be a fair bit more powerful than the final release. From my understanding I remember reading that the original 3DS build has something stupid like 2 hours of battery life at max and Nintendo had to power it down, and we still barely get 3-4 hours on the graphically intensive games. Sony had to do the same with the Vita. To be fair, as lame as it was, it was probably for the best. Plus Nintendo stuck with a shitty battery to save costs.

Back to Snake Eater 3D. I'm sorry but the 3DS version is vastly superior IMHO The ONLY disadvantage was the final part where you need to escape with Eva wounded was significantly harder because there were a few enemy spots that looked smaller than a rats dick. Other than that, it was fantastic! I ask myself why the fuck we don't see games looking this good on the 3DS anymore :/ Textures are much more blurry and pixelated these days.

DoA Dimensions also looked fantastic

Minimum of 2 years.

Well he is the same guy who thought the Wii U was a stupid idea in the first place and that it would fail. He later went on to say he was misunderstood and didn't mean it like that. He basically back tracked it and said in the nicest way possible. The Wii U sucked. Which it didn't, but he kind of had the "I told you so" attitude. Maybe I am exaggerating it a bit... but even still. I don't think we are both wrong. I'm pretty sure he started trashing the Wii U concept within a day he got into office. If he had more plans for it, we would know about more games by now. Shit, I hope they have a game or two in the pipeline. I thought we'd get new ones until he started going off at the investors meeting about how E3 will be dedicated at E3 and that the NX is forward thinking and the holiday is somewhat of a write off to prepare for the NX and how it's going to have this "fantastic software line up". He might as well have said "Oh yeah, we cannibalized  all the future Wii U games and moved them over the NX, because the NX is going to be a hundred times better"

He basically doesn't give a flying fuck about the Wii U, nor does he care on the opinions that Nintendo fans hold regarding the Wii U. His mind is set, and he's not looking back. I suspect Nintendo may lose some of their fans over this, but I also think it could be for the best as far as Nintendo themselves as a company is concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't even care because he'll be brining in new fans and people will likely be wowed by the NX. So I can understand why some fans actually feel betrayed by him. Iwata wouldn't do this as he cared deeply for the system, Nintendo fans, and Iwata also reduced the scope of Nintendo to be more innovative and creative.

Kimishima clearly wants Nintendo to be the behemoth they once were. He has the money and resources to do this as well. It appears he's restructuring the company as a whole. We also need to remember that even though Microsoft has more money as a whole, and Sony maybe and they were on the verge of bankruptcy a few years back. Nintendo technically has the most money in terms of "video game" revenue and budget. After all that is really their only area of business. For now.

This is of course how I view the situation and it's my personal interpretation. It may not be true, but it sure as hell seems like it to me. To the point I actually believe this shit.

Paper mario and Zelda beg to differ.

Another year or two most likely.

And Tokyo Mirage Sessions.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I don't think the online servers of the WiiU will go away any time soon. Specially because I'm sure the digital store of the WiiU is way more profitable than the Wii was, and taking away the servers would cut that in half.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

"Vastly superior" to what? The PS2 version?

All other versions were vastly superior to the 3DS version (resolution, jaggies, framerate, controls...)

I think the E-Shop will be here for some time, the wii shop channel is still running, i dont see why miiverse would be shut off, If NX has it they could just add NX communities to it as is.
