Simple - Baseball has 162 games and is a purely capitalist sport. Football has a shorter season and there are salary caps.
Any MLB player who stays in the big leagues for a full year gets ~$300,000. Pretty sure thats the league minimum.

i think Toronto has a great chance to be a division winner this year...Stellar pitching, great bullpen, great defense (imo best shortstop MacDonald) and also great hitting...
