The problem is that even if Kasich could win somehow. It will only further anger the already angry Trump supporters, and some Cruz ones as well. Many will refuse to turn out and the republican party will only be in a more terrible postion in 4 years.
I worked for Rubio (still has more delegates than Kasich) and Kasich is the only other Republican that I like. He along with Rubio were slam dunk winners in the General. However things have changed now. The problem is that even if Kasich could win somehow. It will only further anger the already angry Trump supporters, and some Cruz ones as well. Many will refuse to turn out. Plus the shot Trump goes third party. I think the party is too splintered for Kasich to be able to unify it in order to win. It would also just prolong the problem the republican party has with the tea party/Trump supporters. They would be back in 4 years with a vengence. Best thing for the Republican party is to let Trump be the nominee. Watch him lose, let Hillary be president for 4 years, watch her approval fall even further, then win a even more slam dunk election in 4 years. |
Yeah I see your point. I wish there was a party with a majority of Rubio and Kasich supporters because this need to appeal to the extreme conservative just to get those southern states is annoying yet I disagree with most ideals of the left. He'd be 67 in 4 years and Rubio would still be quite young. I think Kasich with Rubio as VP and the heir apparent would be a GREAT thing for this country. Rubio is a little inexperienced for my taste but he is my second favorite candidate and I think he would have thrashed hillary in the general. Just think you would have a senator of Florida and the Governor of Ohio in the general and he's beaten Hillary in every poll by an average of 8 points. But the far right doesn't care and will only elect the most extreme candidate because apparently they don't want to appeal to anyone but themselves no matter what the results of the general election will undoubtedly be.
