Tokyo (AFP) - Sony posted a $1.4 billion annual profit Thursday, boosted by strong sales of its PlayStation console, but analysts warned that slowing smartphone demand could hit a lucrative business that makes key parts for mobile devices.

The company's full-year profit -- only its second since the 2008 global financial crisis preceded years of eye-watering losses -- may be a sign that things have finally turned around for Sony.

That's good to hear, especially after all the flack Kaz took from Crazy Ken and other old boobs at Sony, or formerly at Sony. He inherited a huge mess to untangle and has done a fantastic job at it.

Good for Sony. A couple of years with this level of profits and they'll leave all of the "selling buildings" jokes finally behind them.

good for them. Cutting off or downsizing all those facets of their company that was bleeding money was great. With things like PlayStation Vue picking up traction things could look significantly better in a few more years time.
