Is that it?? I just woke up and all I'm seeing is 2017 and Zelda delay. THIS CANT BE ALL THEY SAID, I NEED MORE!!!

Zelda is for NX and Wii U confirmed, launching in 2017. 

NX launches March 2017. 

Zelda U will be the only playable game for Nintendo at this E3 show. No NX at E3. 

Fire Emblem & Animal Crossing coming to iPhone/Android. 

Shitty sales for Wii U and 3DS this past fiscal year. 

Basically in a nutshell. 

They better make a decent pricecut to the 3DS/WiiU. They need to take care of stock, specially the WiiU.

WTF!?!? It just keeps getting worse... This means they will have literally NOTHING new to announce. Since I was wanting to stay in the dark about Zelda U, I may aswell skip Nintendo's entire E3 show besides the Sun/Moon trailer. Like seriously, I'm not even sure if this E3 will even beat last year's and that's saying something with how bad it was.

NX won't simply replace WiiU AND 3Ds? So it is a fusion platform? Otherwise why mention both home- and handheld consoles?

So, it seems I was right - NX to release in 2017.

Not if they handle it just right.

Wii U is selling about the same this year as it was last year. And last year didn't have a Zelda title to drive sales.

If they're waiting until March 2017 to release NX, that suggests they have titles on the way to the Wii U that they haven't announced. There's also good reason to think that NX will change something relative to Wii U that makes some games unsuitable for release on NX - such titles would serve as a significant driver for Wii U purchase (and would explain why Nintendo says they'll keep supporting the Wii U).

Basically, it all comes down to the details that we don't yet know. But it's fair to assume that Nintendo made a conscious decision to release it in 2017 and not 2016 - it's not like they couldn't have pushed to have everything ready 3 months earlier. Nintendo have been at this for a long time, they know the benefit of holiday releases. So we can be pretty damn sure there's something more they haven't yet announced. Whether it'll be enough is the question, but it's too early to dismiss it.

Did they have a really good reason for doing things this way? I sure hope so, because to me it just looks like a mess.

The holidays are huge for nintendo.
Because of how they focus on a younger demographics, alot of their sales are christmas presents.

Lauching a new Console, right after the holidays? why would you do that?

They are skipping the E3 reveal of the NX? what? why? w t f are you going to show instead?

Wii U has like no games comeing to it..... NX delayed to 2017.. are you serious? Wii U is gonna be a graveyard for 2016.

NX was likely meant for holiday 2016, they just couldn't make it so they had to settle for March 2017 instead. This is the same thing with the 3DS, they aimed to release it for holiday 2010, but had to settle for a Feb 2017 launch (Japan) instead. 

They don't have much to show at E3 since they have thrown everything behind NX so that is what it is. 

I'm strongly suspecting this. It is something new and different and that would be new and different. 

Also they may have more apt to launch in March, because they've launched portables in that window before (3DS) but never a home-only console. 

Launching the NX in March is not as bad as people think it is, however having Zelda Wii U delayed AGAIN is stupid af.
