God, I hope not. Not only it would alienate its current and future fanbase (blocking the multiplayer to titles like Pokemon, MarioKart, Smash, Splatoon...), they would crash and burn without the same discounts/services offered by PS+ or XboxLive, and that needs massive 3rd party support. Plus, charging for online multiplayer is theft, plain and simple.

I dont get why so many People are "mad" about paying for Services like PS+ or Xbox Gold, i mean so is paying for an internet Connection also "Bullshit" in your opinion?!? Im absolutely fine with it paying 50 Euro/Year for a Service like this, also you get free Games. Ok mabye a lot of People dont like them and think its "Bullshit" because they arent Triple A Title, but what do you expect!?

And if Nintendo would go the same way i wouldnt be surprised or mad, but they are mabye not in the Position to do something like this, thats why.

I stay loyal to Sony because the bring the games, i couldnt care less about their bank account.

I think it goes to show how they were right to create PS+... it was obvious after MS's success that there was a lot of money to be made from subscriptions and by doing so they also disrupted profits from MS. Though some people hated it, it has helped them claw back the financial mess they were in from the PS3.

Kind of a cherry picked stat since we know Nintendo is not only on a the downcycle of a generation, but on the downcycle of a really poor console generation.

They literally have zero third party support on the Wii U, so basically the only revenue they can make from it is from the 8-10 first party games they manage to release for it for example.

Sony has hundreds of new games on PSN because of wide developer support, so this isn't really that stunning.

100s of games per year outgrossing a platform that has maybe 10 new games a year isn't shocking.

The argument of "I get free games and discounts so its fine the fee" is flawed in its principle. PS+ and XBox Live are services that get the users a deluxe experience on both buying games and getting games for free. But the problem is not the games I can get with them, it's the ability to access the content you paid for in the first place. If I buy a copy of CoD, I can play the multiplayer inmediately on PC, but I have to get the service on a PS4/XBox. I paid the same money for both, why do I need to pay more on consoles? At that point the free games are not a gift, they are a consolation.

Thats not cherrypicked though.  That comparison does hold some weight. .

I totally get your point.

I never play online because of my shitty internet, but im subscribed to Ps Plus.

As a Vita, PS4 and PS4 owner, them giving me 6 games a month is more than enough to see the worth of paying 50 bucks a year.

IGN keeps track of Gold and Plus, there are months that the games are worth more than 100 bucks, just in one month.

That is beyond a consolation, that is an amazing deal imo.
