Forums - Sony - Horizon: Zero Dawn delayed to early 2017 (RUMOUR)

A shame if true, this is easily my most anticipated game after Uncharted 4, but like Uncharted if it needs the extra time then I'm not going to begrudge the devs that. If it is because of Neo or whatever, then that's a tad frustrating speaking from someone who's trying to resist the temptation of buying Neo (if it's real of course).

Don't ruin the moment

Currently Playing: Rocket League (PC/PS4), Dead Cells (PC)

The two games operate in completely different spaces, it  wouldn't make sense to trade up an exclusive Single Player/Adventure RPG for Titanfall marketing rights. This game was the number 1 suspect of a potential delay so I personally don't think theres much more to it other than a 3 years dev cycle for an ambitious new IP being too optimistic. Sony has never pressured devs hands into meeting holiday deadlines (The Order, Uncharted) so I'm not surprised here.

It's only speculation, but Tombraider wasn't in the same space as Fallout 4 but everyone and his mother agrees releasing Tombraider alongside that game was a bad move.

Didn't they launch on the same day? I wouldn't advise that of course.

It doesn't really matter that it released in the same day, just the same window would have hurt it.

The PS5 Exists.

These insiders are really starting to piss me off

From point of stronger exclusives, basically from U4 to end of year only The Last Guardian!?

Persona 5, No man's sky, Gran Turismo Sports, the new Nier game and many more its quite a big list

Persona 5 and No man's sky are not exclusive games, and I never heard about Nier game.

It really does. I also wouldn't compare a single player RPG to a multiplayer FPS game like Titanfall, If it was going up against Mass Effect I'd maybe agree with you.  As you said you were just speculating, I'm happy to leave it there.

Nnnoooooooooooooooooooo please don't be true. This is one of my most anticipated games this year.

I'm waiting to find out who has the marketing deal for Titanfall 2. If Sony has it then I'd suggest part of the reason or the delay is so they can concentrate on that.

An NX leaker said MS would have titanfall 2

I just hope they have the console out around the time FFXV launches and that game to utilize the new hardware.

Hopefully they patch Bloodborne too.

If not and it's also coming Q1 2017, then I'd want a PS4K+Horizon bundle.

And now I'm seeing rumblings over at GAF of the whole 'PS4 has no games' narrative again. It's absolutely insane when you have other consoles with far less exclusive content. I want to know why we haven't seen similar claims for those consoles. Why are Sony held to much higher standards than the other consoles?

Sony is the industry leader, always has been. Whatever steps they take is always scrutinized.  Notice how their game conferences always generate the most hype even in the off years. People expect them to lead and surprise with crazy announcements.

I mean, no one's expecting Nintendo or Microsoft to surprise us all. Nintendo has embedded itself in its traditional franchises and every once in a while they do something new. Microsoft is pretty much Halo/Gears/Forza now with some new IPs here and there, who btw were announced too early (remember that controlled leak).

Sony pretty much refreshes each gen with new games, and the sequels from previous gens actually are exciting. Uncharted 4 vs Gears 4, what has more hype? They've kept inFamous and Ratchet&Clank fresh and GoW 4 being in Norse mythology is exactly what people were asking for. And then they fund crazy indies and have Japanese games. People want Sony to work together with Square Enix, Capcom, Sega etc to resurrect their old IPs because Nintendo and Microsoft won't.
