Hopefully this should help out-

XBOX LIVE MONTHLY ACTIVE USERS ON XBOX ONE, XBOX 360 & WINDOWS 10

Q3 2014 30
Q4 2014 37
Q1 2015 37
Q2 2015 37
Q3 2015 39
Q4 2015 48
Q1 2016 46

Q1 2016 refers to the calendar year period ending March 31st 2016.

So it seems after all that. This is actually the first time MAU has dropped since they reported it.  I suppose they want to hover around 50m all year.

Yup, basically the MAU number is pretty much flat all year round but then see's a substantial increase due to high number of consoles + games sold in the final quarter of the calendar year.

Surface yoy revenues are so up.

22.2 million Office 365 subscriptions.

Azure revenue up by 120 percent

But this is just looking at individual pieces of the puzzle mate and I'll explain what I'm trying to say shortly.  I've worked in market research for a number of years, and this by any means is a bad report.  First of all, Microsoft stock price dropped by 8% today.  That socks for investors, and this happened because....

Revenue was just reported as23,796,000,000 vs 26,144,000,000 a year ago or a drop of 8.9% from a year ago.

Earnings were reported at 4,998,000,000 vs 5,790,000,000 a year ago or a drop of 13.6%

Questions?  If the site owners want to get in contact with me, they can do so through my listed email with the account registration, i might be able to offer this website some work.

I've worked in market research for a number of years and have experience with research in consumer electronics, digital media, ane-commerce.

Hopefully we can get some numbers for their xbox division. Unlike the many threads we have gotten which was just estimations <------- Where people on that threads was soooooooo sure it was true.

They wish it was true, but they made themselves look foolish, lol.

Proud to be a Californian.

Quarter was disappointing in terms of revenue and profit. While growth did come from some places, it was still a disappointing quarter. I do expect them to do better next quarter, but its likely that the stock will remain by around 50$ for awhile.

Also good to see Xbox One sales up YOY.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Question for you experts. Why did MS have to pay 1.5B in taxes? That seems excessive, especially with the smart lawyers and accountants they have and a lot of things being tax deductible for them. Is there some clever accounting happening there? I have noticed this in some companies financials where some of them pay a lot more in taxes (percentage and otherwise) than others.

What a wonderful opportunity to buy for those who aren't already on the MSFT bandwagon. Go for it peeps!

You're 20... "a number of years"?

Anyhow.... if you were so skilled and knowledgable you would take your own advice and see past just those headline financials and look at causes.  But you didnt, so I can only assume you arent.

A lot of analysts as well as myself are disappointed with the results; we've been expecting and wanting more.  The reasons for this are usually thought to be the result of the decline of the pc, and software related to it.  You don't have double digit growth in Office anymore, if I remember correctly, it grew just 1% with this report.

As far as myself and my knowledge go, I could care less what you think and please feel free to give as many snide comments in here as you like, after all you're only throwing trash in yo ur own thread, it hurts me none.  I also would just have skipped over this thread if you didn't just cherry pick the facts and slides you gave.  You need to show how the results compare with previous quarters, you should post a few articles analyzing what happened and what to expect from Microsoft in the future.  And if the people that make a similar thread about Sony cherry pick it's results, I'll offer facts that allow one to put the numbers in context as well.  Equal treatment.

If a user attempts to use their personal background as a means to substantiate what they are saying, one should be allowed to question that background, no?
