This is just a stupid idea that i STRONGLY wish that ends up being just a rumor...

Sadly, i feel that there is some truth about it and that makes me fucking angry.

Like i said, i reaaaaally hope that there is a Master Plan behind all of this, because if it is a reactionary plan because of the NX and/or the Xbox 1.5, boy oh boy.

TBH - I love this idea and I hope Sony doesn't give a shit what your side of the line thinks.

There is absolutely NOTHING for you to be pissed off about except feeling like your dick is somehow smaller because you don't have the top of the line SKU.

In the article itself, it tells you: that you can play with all your friends; that you will get all the same games; that there will be no special features; that there will be no periphreal exclusions.

WTF are you raging about?

if it just improved on multimedia and photos with 4k support I could easily understand to a degree, but for gaming I just don't, especially with it not being full on native 4k because I just don't see those specs reaching that, let alone at 60fps, even then if they were able to they would have to make proper use of the power to output at that res or just piss away all the potential and not support the given res which makes the initial purchase completely pointless, that itself can cause disparity between those that buy it and if they use the actual power, towards those that don't buy it, you just end up going in between a rock and a hard place.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

None of this contradicts the earlier leak saying that many PS4 versions of games would run like ass because they are built work with the PS4K first. I don't think anyone thought there would be exclusive games or content, just that their old hardware would basically become obsolete which still sounds like it will happen.

None of which really matters. It's an extremely forward thinking move that everyone will be doing eventually.

So who is going to pay publishers to include that NEO mode, why would they bother.
Required starting in October, yeah right.

Did Giant bomb fall for some faked documents or something.

Nobody is paying devs to develop on PS4. They are developing on PS4 so they could just sell their games to PS4 owners, it won't be any different. They would be developing for NEO owners who will buy their game. And most developers already develop for PC, it really wouldn't be different. It's just 1 more platform, and it wouldn't even be 1, it's like .10 of a platform because all they have to do is add graphic options. It wouldn't be that hard.

I cannot believe people keep spreading these silly rumors.

Sony's goal as a company is to make a profit. Reducing the cost of your console while keep the specs relatively the same will help you sell more consoles. This lets you sell more games and more peripherals, which earns you more money (they don't make any money on the console).

Making a more expensive console is not going to help them sell that many more consoles. And I don't think this would do much to way potential XBox buyers to the Sony camp.

Someone please explain to me why Sony would spend time and money to develop a slightly faster console? How would any of this benefit Sony?

Why wouldn't they just make a PS4 Slim unit, taking advantage of current technologies to make the console smaller / quieter / cheaper? The only real upgrade they should add is HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2, to support the current generation of 4K TVs (and some people have mentioned they should upgrade the Bluray drive to UHD capable, but I still have my doubts they would do this).

Why would they do this...

Because they are on a x86 architecture allowing them unlimited backwards compatability of both games and the OS. Because Nintendo was planning on dropping a console mid generation that if what is rumored would cause the power split to favor NX. Because Xbox was/is planning on doing it, and they do not want to get caught with their dicks in their hands. Because they could milk more hardware revenue from people like me. And cause VR.

The PS4 is already the most powerful console. Does Sony really think there are enough people willing to upgrade to make it worth the risk or alienating people.

Or, even ignoring that potential snaffu, the cost of R&D and production.

Who exactly is this supposed to alienate? I doubt Sony expects much of anyone to update. This product isn't for current PS4 owners at all. They couldn't care less about you guys with this. You already have a PS4. They already have your money. This is for the potential 100m+ people WW who don't have one yet.

It defeats the purpose of consoles.

Like ive been saying before, if the add an HDMI 2.0 port, fine. But if they are going to upgrade the internals, now thats i have problem with.

It is not even about money, i could buy the console whenever i want, money is not whats limiting me.

This would set a precedent for future consoles, so there will be two or more versions of the same console, all with different specs so at the end of the day you would be playing basically on a PC.

And thanks for your concern, but my cock has nothing to do with what im talking about.

You make no sense at all. People play on consoles for plug and play, this will not change that.

I want to know why you play on consoles.

To have the same experience as everybody else, which makes the developers work easier.

We have been receiving games that are an absolute mess when it comes to framerates and resolution, do you think that a more powerful console will solve this?

On the contrary, it will make things worse.

You will remember me when A) The games on PS4 NEO will look absolutely the same than the regular PS4, so people will be raging about how the new console is worthless. B) The game will be optimized for the NEO and will run like shit on the regular PS4.

On this era of patches and DLC, dividing a userbase will be catastrophic.

How does it defeat the purpose of consoles?

It is still a device that is designed to hook up to a TV.
It is still a device that plays video games.
It is still a device that's main input is a controller.
It is still a device that has much more predominant local multiplayer.
It is still a device that comes as an all-in-one.
it is still a device that will just work (excluding shitty ports like Dragon Age 2 on PS3).
It is still a device that plays on PSN.
It is still a device that you can rent physical games from gamefly/redbox/etc.
It is still a device where you can sell your physical media.
It is still a device that doesn't have a constant threat of viruses.
It is still a locked device that has much lower amounts of cheaters and bots.

I'm still failing to see the problem?
