Worst generation since I started gaming.

100% this, not a single must-have title on consoles for me yet, I've never experienced that three years into a generation before. There are literally zero games that would make me want a new console. It has been fairly boring for PC as well, with Blizzard and Valve taking their sweet ass time releasing anything worthwhile and most ports and multiplats being a mess technically. Decent gen indies on PC though, but not great.

I quite happy with my 3DS but the rest seems boring to me.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

I lived through the SEGA CD, 32X, Saturn, Dreamcast fiasco. Having an opinion of that time is not uninformed. It's not just what SEGA did dropping the Dreamcast so fast. It's dropping all of these failed systems without supporting the people who bought them.

The parallels I see to Nintendo dropping support for Wii U so quickly are here. Look at the Game Boy Advanced. As soon as the DS system took off like a rocket Nintendo dropped the GBA so fast it made my head spin. Nintendo HAS stopped working on Wii U games.

Wii U owners will be left high and dry.

They did drop support for the Game Boy Advance sooner than they would have usually but mainly because the DS took off so much.  They did release the Game Boy Micro after the DS was released but that was mainly a swang song.  I actually eventually got the 20th Anniversary Edition Game Boy Micro which I am proud to own.  Wikipedia has GBA for NA from June 11, 2001 - 2008.  The support for the GBA in the final years was almost nonexistent.  I would consider the GBA had at least 4 good years for it which seems terrible when comparing it to the GB but not too bad when compared to the GBC which was from Nov 18, 1998 - May 30, 2003.

The Wii U seems like it will have about 4 years of decent support (from Nintendo).  I believe it just looks worse compared to the GC because at least the GC had decent third party support (and lasted 6 years) .  How long do you expect them to hang onto a sinking ship for?  I see the Wii U being discontinued in 2017 or early 2018.

I agree with you that dropping support isn't good but I see the situations between Sega and Nintendo a little differently.  You can draw some parallels but I think Nintendo will try to stay with the 5+ years of support for their home console systems.  Sorry to question your history because it seems like you were semi burned by Sega's last few systems.

Unfortunately dropping older hardware early has become the practice now that everyone upgrades their $600 phone every two years.

New PS4K and XBOX 1.5 rumors are probably true. It's a sad time for the consumer.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

Switch FC: SW-0398-8858-1969

at first i couldnt wait for it to start,,,, but then we were hit with...
endless remakes,
companies not living up to their promises,
the indie revolution,
all the smart toys we could (and didnt) ask for,
the dawn of 4K which is meh at this point,
the dawn of VR which is also meh at this point,
about a million android consoles,
paying twice as much for unfinished games,
Konami killing themselves,
Nintendo what the #### are you doing with your games?,
Microsoft what the #### are you doing with xbox?,
Valve what the #### are you doing with steam machines?,
and more complaints about resolution than ever before.

i give it a solid 7/10

This gen is similar to last gen, though I am enjoying gaming more now then I did then. For the first few years my ps3 was mostly used to play ps2 games, with many of my early ps3 games feeling underwhelming. For the first few years since I've had the ps4 I've been playing on my ps3 more and had a similar mix of quality in games like I had on the ps3 early on.
I've enjoyed the vita much more at this point than I had enjoyed the psp. Don't care much for the 3ds burr didn't have a ds. Don't own a wii u but the genes I've played I've had similar enjoyment as I had on the wii, though I suppose a little less since it's not been enough to get me to buy one.

A lot of different opinions here :P
Some really like it, some don't and others aren't sure just yet. To be honest I didn't think the poll would be so close xD

The winner of the poll is what I expected though.

While I am enjoying this generation, nothing has blown me away. Nothing remotely has captured my imagination and interest long enough for me to go, I think we needed this generation.

I'm kinda in the middle. I don't love it, but I've gotten enough games to keep me occupied for a long time, which is funny for me to say since my primary consoles are Wii U and 3DS. The games Ninten has produced have been pretty great. Not so many big titles, but good ones nonetheless.

8th gen is going backwards. I was excited about psvr, yet this neo thing has put the brakes on my excitement.
XBox One doesn't seem to be a good alternative as MS is more interested in Win 10 atm.
Still no word on TLG. GT sports is missing the point of what I love about the GT (the variety and breadth) and is still not out. Uncharted 4, hmm let's see what they have planned for the NEO version first, still have plenty to play anyway.

Looking forward to the NX reveal.
