Just an FYI:

We'll have to wait till tommorow to certify it, but Ikaruga is certainly on pace to beat Rez HD for fastest selling title of 2008.

For refference: Rez HD sold 25,000+ copies in the first 3 days of sale, on XBLA.
Currently, Ikaruga, after a mere 18hrs on sale, has already amassed 5,500 units.

Wow, it has increased quite a bit. When I played last night and I checked there were about 3,400 scores on the single play leaderboards. Was this a WW release of the game? or was it just in JP only? I hope sales continue to do well, so Treasure releases more games on XBLA

Anyway, the game is pretty tough. On the regular 3 lives/no continues I made it to the 2nd stage and using continues I was able to make it to the 3rd stage. This is on "Normal" difficulty. I need to get used to switching back and forth between Red/White. The game looks really gorgeous though. I'm not sure how it was on DC/GCN since I never played those versions, but for a game from 2001/2002 it looks really freaking sweet!

The only bad thing for me is that I have so many damn games to play. My copy of COD4 (360) just came today, I picked up Mario Kart Wii today too and I just got that Spectral Force 3 (360) game a few days ago too! I still need to finish LO and DMC4 as well...

Those crazy idolmaster fans :)

You know you want the LE Idol Master card, too I'll see if I can get the other Idol Master points card the next time I buy points. I still have +3000 MS points though, so that might not be for awhile, hehe

Just a quick note:

I'm able to certify that Ikaruga has had the 2nd best launch of the year, just a few units shy of Rez HD.

Rez HD launched with approx. 10,500 units first day.
Ikaruga launched with approx. 9,500 units first day.

The big question is where it's legs are: Rez HD only amassed 25k it's first week - 15,000 on Thursday and Friday. Ikaruga could beat this easily...If it had legs.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Update:

With about 18hrs left before I compile the data to compare it to Rez HD's first 3 days, Ikaruga is upto 18,150 units. It needs about 7,300 more units in that time to beat out Rez HD's first 3 days.

Which is unlikely, but do-able. It's had a better Thursday and Friday than Rez HD did, but not by much.

Soon, a new type of console wars will begin.... The downloadable game war.

Seriously though, I think the wiiware will threaten xbox arcade relevancy in europe, and japan.

Strategy - it could threaten the 360 if users could actually download more than a few games.

WiiWare = Stock 512mb card can hold entire Japanese WiiWare library, and nothing more. (9 games).

XBLA = 20gb HDD can download and store every game made on XBLA - 120+ games, and still have a bit of room left over.

Which one, you think, will get more sales, potentially?

I thought you could use flash cards, and you could re-download them?
