i agree, i know one concern was that their mobile games would take attention away from their dedicated gaming devices but its not like people are going to play Miitomo and decide they no longer want Mario Kart or Smash Bros.

Not really seeing what's weak about it. Nintendo has universal appeal and while they are dedicated to the more traditional games market, they'd do well tapping into the massive install base of smartphones. Making an app like Miitomo doesn't affect their console business in any way, so I'm not sure why it would considered weak to expand their audience.

It was a weakness to ignore the market and the natural connection that must be between consoles and mobile.

It is definitely not. My Nintendo ties them pretty closely to their consoles.

It's def a good way to promote Ninten and get people attracted to their products. The connection to My Nintendo is good as well.

Exactly. Imo, it's their way of just getting into the conscious again. Alot of the Wii people are using their iPhones and I'm sure this is Nintendo's way of saying "Hey guys! Remember us? Aren't our games fun? We're going to be releasing a new console this fall...."
