Some of you guys have poor reading comprehension, or just don't like to read long posts.

Fooflexible, I totally see where you are coming from. I absolutely hate the idea of the gamerscore. I've gotten stuck in 2 games on the PS3, and I downloaded a savegame just to save myself from a headache. Enjoyed the rest of the games after skipping past the level I was stuck on. I would hate to be branded a cheater online for those actions, especially if I were paying for XBox Live (which is one reason I sold my XBox360, got tired of paying for every little thing).

Thank you! Finally someone. Well the bottom line is despite whats being said here, there is nothing wrong with us for buying a game, playing without cheating online and occassionaly using a gamesave to bypass stuff. And what I mean is we are not hurting anyone elses experience and Microsoft should be grateful for our business, but since they are not I will most definitly take my business elsewhere.

Another thing people are forgeting, is because of Microsoft attiutude toward polcing the gaming public we are missing out on cool features, like mods, and an internet browser.

You shouldn't have bought a 360 if it is such a problem that there is no internet browser.  Yoiu have mentioned this a few times, you should have bought a PS3 or even a Wii if an internet browser was so important.  Bottom line you are cheating anyay you look at it.  What you are arguing is if this cheating(using gamesaves) is ok or not and frankly if you suck at a game well then download the gamesave.  I myself have used this method in FF9 to obtain Excalibur 2.  It is still cheating but justified.

Couldn't MS be sued for libel if they list someone as a cheater ?

LOL. Let's all sue for being pointed out as cheaters. Instead why not just admit and take personal resposibilty for what you did.

The point is I didn't cheat, I don't even have a 360 anymore. But let's be real here, if you label someone a cheater even if he/she is, it can be considered as negative discrimination.

The thing that Fooflexible is missing is the main way to cheat on Xbox 360 is through gamesaves. Some of those gamesaves have been tampered with and can unlock things in the game you couldn't get by simply playing the right way. It can even help you in online matches. For instance those cars you unlocked in burnout by skipping ahead can be used online. So therefore you have an unfair advantage over someone else who got stuck just like you and is struggling to win a race online.

By the way everyone will know why you have been branded a cheater, because people who use foul language and racial slurs are banned. I've seen many people that I report banned a few days later plus I block them so I never have to play with them again. Seriously if you don't care about gamerscore keep using the gamesaves because all they will do is continue to erase the gamerscore you artificially earn and let everyone know you cheated to end the game. Does that somehow hurt your pride or something?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I do have a ps3 and  a Wii, and no the internet Browser isn't that important to me, it's that MS announces crackdowns, when they could be announcing new features. And the irony of the only console maker that actually makes a browser and having not included it, just seems silly. It's something that could have been given as a perk, but they held back. With that said I will from time to time use the browser, in fact when my friends are over since my consoles are in the basement and if we want to check out youtube videos I'll just pull them up from my ps3 instead of going to my office. Or sometimes I'm using a walkthrough from gamefaqs to help with something and I can have it pulled up on on system while playing the game with the other.

Another point about cheating I'll just say everyone is so quick to judge on the matter, and if I'm labeled a cheater I don't really care, it's that we should make a distinction from offline to online. I'd never cheat even if I knew how online, I just think it ruins the experience with everyone else. It's something to do offline, where it will only affect you. Microsoft in my opinion should have allowed cheating and alternate gamesaves, they spend too much time prohibitng people that want to enjoy themselves with these features, when they instead could have allowed them to and then installed some type of security features to prevent these cheats from accessing achievements.

^i was using an open "you" and you cant play "honestly" on and off line using someone else's save

Why can't I play honestly online with someone elses save? Again your giving this matter the same false impression others will when when they see peoples name on the list. That I'm some how cheating online. Even if I download a halo 3 save, it won't affect my gameplay online. It won't affect my rank my medals, or how I can play.

You know honestly this is fine to agree to disagree you all seem to agree that it's okay for a company to embarass a paying customer. Just keep in mind one thing. The more we stamp out cheating, and the more casual the gaming population gets, the easier games will get. Developers have to compensate people who get stuck in the game, and since they aren't allowed to cheat, the only other option is to make games eaiser to beat. And games have been getting easier, and if you don't think cheating should be allowed stop complaining about games not being challenging, because cheating was one of the few games developers could appease the all happy to buy and all to crappy to play gamers.

Just one last question all you guys are totally anti cheating? You never just popped in infinite money in Sims, just to have wanton fun? Or God mode just to have a care free blast feast after a tough day of work? Sometimes it's not just a cheap way to beat a game, someitmes it's just fun.

From your position then wouldn't this be a good thing since you download saves just to "beat" hard games.

@fooflexible

I applaud Microsoft for their actions. They just took a giant leap in my estimation. There are too many companies that do a lousy job of cracking down on cheaters, and those self absorbed players hurt everyones experience. Doing anything outside of the standard rules to obtain a higher score no matter your motivation is considered to be cheating, and it has always been so for three decades no less. Your the modern equivalent of the guy who used to tilt pinball machines, or the guy who would tag team a game to get the highest score in the arcade.

Those were unfair antics then, and they are unfair antics now. You ruin honest players experience with your underhanded behavior. Honest players work hard to unlock their achievements, and it isn't about the entirety of your score. Every achievement is prominently displayed for those who are interested. Why do players work hard to unlock some ask. Well its for the same reason you play any game. The sense of accomplishment, and the sense of self worth. You demean those who put the effort forward by abusing the system.

What your not telling everyone in this thread is this. You absolutely cheated to up your gamer score, or more to the point you were happy to have it go up thanks to your cheating ways. Your reputation matters to you, and getting extra points tagged onto your gamer card made you feel even better about your choice. Otherwise you wouldn't be throwing your childish tantrum. Your ill gotten reputation is ruined. Which is should have been. Were you sincere in your belief you wouldn't really care that Microsoft busted you since you weren't concerned about your reputation or your gamer score to begin with.

You brought this upon yourself, and you deserve the full measure your getting. Don't blame Microsoft for keeping the environment fair for all players who collect achievements. Were you sincere about not caring then why complain at all. Microsoft is merely highlighting the fact that you are a non competitive player.

I am proud of my gamer score it may not be huge, but I know how hard I worked to get some of them, and when I see my friends have high scores I am proud of them, and if they are higher then me on a game I love I feel the need to get a little farther. Microsoft isn't stopping you from using your machine of your online service. You on the other hand were hurting my gaming experience.

No it doesn't hurt my pride, MS has pulled some updates almost a year ago making it almost impossible to use gamesaves, since then I haven't done so, in fact I only used a save once. So this is so much an issue, I just think it's wrong to publish a list and it's misleading to many.

As far as the hacked game saves that allow you special abilities, I've never heard of that. Maybe you know more about the game save community, I don't know. Plus most online games save your profiles online, like Cod4 your rank and classes and such are pulled off ther servers, so you couldn't just use someone elses save to bump your online stats.

Maybe what you said is true about some games, I'm finding though it's most racing games allow you access to every car in the online races just to even the playing field with people who haven't yet unlocked other cars. Or like in Burnout Paradise the races block out people that rank below or above you, so using the gamesaves could only hurt you in that sense as you'd be competing against people that earned the licenses and have alot of experience with those races.

Wow.  fooflexible is having a meltdown.

Can we expect news of video game related violence in the near future?

^no he was going to but cant get to the next level and cant find a save to use either

Who cares if Microsoft is checking your game save files? They can check mine all they want, if you're not a cheater I don't see why you'd be concerned about it.
