Forums - Microsoft - MS cracks down on Gamerscore cheaters

I just can't believe how cool everyone is with this, it's like you'd all love Homeland security to plant video cameras in your house. Maybe make a few more lists.

Okay, you've officially stepped outside of the box I like to refer to as "reality"

This is a game console. You are playing GAMES. The founding fathers included nothing in our civil liberties about a right to use save files to unlock content in games.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

1 st MS gives you a exclusive gamertag with a profile that you play your games under as you beat games you get achievements! the top guys on the leader boards have over 250,000 gamerscore! if you play a game like enchanted arms and theres a european, american and japanese version!

If you beat the game once all you have to do is get the other 2 versions and pop in the disk and your 1st save file unlocks those versions g-score a quick 2000 gamerscore in 1 minute!

I feel if your willing to buy the game 3 times to get that what ever its a flaw in the system but it does over inflate Gscore to show 3000 gscore for the same game!

I have a friend he's put up 42,000 in a year and a half and he's really not intrested in a game if he cant get gscore!

I guess MS doesnt want GScore to be so meaningless as to let it overinflate it by cheating! because like the cheater who needs instance gratification the guy who plays by the rules feels its meaningless and goes to another system!

It's just funny.

I don't see how people can get that upset about it.

Microsfot need a 'whinging bitch' gamer card for the people that complain.

No.  It's not like that at all.  It's a video game rewards system.  It's not that big of a deal.

game developers set what an acheivement is not MS hince some are super hard for 10g's and others are easy any 2k6 sports games instant 1000 in a game or 2 ! I got 90 g's off burnout legends and trade it in I dont feel slighted or gipped because I couldnt get a 1000 off it!

^yep you should but if you cheat, you cheat..and i have no problem with the world knowing you cheat

Well I just thought racial slurs and death threats and other mistreatment online would be a larger issue, and I don't see Microsoft making a list with those peoples names on it. But no it's the cheaters(people who use other peoples game saves, not online cheating that would enhance your online game)!!! First off I don't cheat at games I like and am good at, 99% of the time I beat them on my own(Cod4, Halo3, Mass Effect, Twilight Princess, etc...) I cheat at games I just want to play through, because I started to hate them and regret shelling out 60 bucks on. Or a game I rented and don't have time to finish, and perhaps don't' want to finish, so I pop in a game save just to see what the rest of the game is like. Much like watching a movie that gets boring so you start to fast forward. And I have no problem telling my friends, I cheated I really don't care. I just think it's insulting to your customer that has given you thousands of dollars to come out with a list, with the intent to embarrass them.

Maybe I'll start to spy on you and post all your private actions on a blog, maybe you think the whole world has a right to know that. Seriously I don't see how anyone can think this is acceptabl
dude get over it...and if you want to blog my life i am flattered knock your self out face it if you cheat and get caught you deserve all that they give you and more

I hope the annoying list is next. the blogging point was simple, what I do offline shouldn't be policed and told to the world, it's giving the online community the idea that I cheat online, and I should be watched out for, and thats not true, I don't and can't cheat online. I honestly admit anything I do, but the idea that the company that i've given so much money over the years is going to publish me on  some list for some type of embarssement is silly. It's basically saying since you've been such a good customer, we're going to publicly humiliate you. It's also silly because wiping out my gamerscore eliminates any reason for keeping that account, I could just open a new one. Secondly I can assure you people who didn't cheat will be published on that list.

And maybe I would get over it, if someone would just see my point of view instead of treating my like a jerk. Seriously I deserve all that they give me and more? I spent 60 bucks on the game 60 bucks a year for online, 400 bucks on the system, a 100 bucks on the wireless device, and since a skipped a level I deserve public humiliation and more? Do you think Microsoft should ban me? For paying money to them and playing honestly online and offline(just occasionaly with someone elses save).

The bottom line is this: This can only hurt Microsoft. It will piss off people who are on the list, and even those of you who love the idea I don't believe will runout and buy more stuff with Microsoft on it as a reward for their policing effort.

I pity the foo'!

(that's my Mr. T impression. Pretty uncanny, wouldn't you say?)

foo, if you want to cheat, go ahead and cheat. Put peanut butter on the disk and fling it out the window. Whatever. It's your $60. Just accept the fact that Microsoft wont give you the credit that somebody, who worked through the same problem you bypassed, is getting. You won't get credit for beating level 4 because you skipped it. Cool. Gamerscore means nothing. If it means THAT much to you, make a separate "cheater profile". Cheat all you want. Use your "legit profile" when you go online. Be happy.

The End

You apperantly aren't reading my posts, I don't even like the achievments and will be gald when they are wiped out. My point is a company should not embarrase it's customers with a list that exposes them as a cheater, when 1. they can't cheat online. and 2. offline cheating  has nothing to do with the rest of the world. I'm fine if they came up with a way of stopping me from taking credit from other saves, in fact when i used someone elses save I didn't even know that would work and was shocked it did.

I just think the list is misleading, it'll make other gamers think you've been caught cheating online. and that you shouldn't be trust in matches.

^i was using an open "you" and you cant play "honestly" on and off line using someone else's save
