How about this NeoGaf thread?
Its saying the PSVita shipped around 10mil at the end of 2014....... Not sure if its trustworthy but pretty lengthy.........

And it said something about the system being discontinued?

Sony releasing Vita numbers is the 'April Fools' part. The 40 million PS4's is to make it seem more legitimate.

Those are CESA estimates, not official numbers. As for this thread, it's an April Fool's thread lol.

And the only system that thread says is discontinued is the PSP...

i know they probably won't but in a few years when they discontinued the psvita they should announce what it sold. like why the fuck now. they're never making another handheld again so not like they need good PR or anything
