On a fun related note, I recently introduced my elementary school nephew and niece to PS console gaming via Disney Infinity.
Both were introduced to console gaming through the Wii quite recently so they were familiar with simple motion control based games.
They actually grew up playing video games on the iPhone and iPad so it was mildly amusing to see them fumble around with the DS controller as they were largely accustomed to touch screen interfaces.
So the new generation of gamers are in all likelihood growing up playing touch screen games with a smaller percentage delving into traditional console/control pad gaming.
