Frak! This does look real. I really hope it isn't. Either way, I'm enjoying my Wii U until it's death, and I hope the NX won't suck, but by the looks of it, it already does. #sad

Besides, the biggest problem is that Nintendo is trying to do these "innovations" that only spikes the cost of their system instead going for a cheap/affordable console with a standard controller. People will buy the system if it has a good standard controller, good first party games and it is affordable from the gate ($250). That controller will drive the cost up. It will be more epensive than the xbox one and ps4 more than likely. Why would someone ditch those consoles where their friends already playing on to go on a more expensive console with a lack luster library compare to ps4 and xbox one and more than likely a worse online infastructure? |
Except going for a cheap affordable console with a standard controller was already done with the GC and even the gamepad on the Wii U is pretty standard which shoots down this logic altogether, anyone who still thinks the bog standard route will solve all the problems needs to finally wake up. Nintendo takes this route because the consumer has sent a message that the other route is no good to the company and won't help them in any form.
Why does anyone ditch any console to buy new ones?

Was reffering to third party games. Nintendo NX will be more expensive than xbox one and ps4. 99 percent of games are third party games. Why would anyone buy their console just to play their few good exclusives that comes out 2-3 times a year? Nintendo was better off with the gamecube route than the wii u route. Which may be discontinue this year. $199 system to play smash bros, super mario, legend of zelda, metroid prime, ect is way more attractive than $350+ system to play those games on a gimmicky controller that doesn't look comfortable. Not to mention Nintendo may not have an adequate online system. Nintendo has to rely on first party to sell their system and paying almost 400 dollars with taxes doesn't seem like a good option.

Bruh, you don't even know if these pictures are true or not but yet you somehow know the "direction" Nintendo is heading now? Also, you act as if Nintendo don't know what they are doing with their controllers. You might not like the design choices they may have made, but they make sure the controllers they choose work well. Such as how a lot of the worries people had with the Wii U gamepad were resolved and planned way ahead of time by Nintendo. I hear alot of people say on the Wii U gamepad is that it is a good controller too, despite how people thought of it and whether they liked the decision Nintendo made on using that or a regular control. If any company were to try a different layout and use touchscreen controls, it would be Nintendo I would trust the most to work out whether it would work or not. Like I said, maybe the controller will be completely terrible, maybe it will be completely amazing and revolutionary, but as of right now people are jumping way too early to conclusions. E3 is only 2 and a half months away. |
Sure, I could have phrased it clearer:
If the pictured controller is real, then I do not like the direction Nintendo is taking.
Also, I never said Nintendo was bad a making controllers, I am saying that this controller (the one in the picture) is a bad idea! The previous controllers were all fine and didn't have major flaws, this one has one major flaw.
I'll compare it to the Gamepad, which by the way I liked from the beginning:
The gamepad has touch controls as an extra next to a classical button layout. It's flaws are minor for gaming (battery life, ZR+ZL could have been analog).
The "leaked" controller partially replaces buttons from the classical layout with touch controls. As I pointed at in my previous post the big flaw is: you can't feel where the buttons are.
If they can somehow make the touch buttons exactly as good as physical buttons, or prove to me that thecontroller works precisely, then I'll be fine with it. Otherwise I am going to ignore the NX.

Gamecube situation proves you wrong because they had third party support and guess what? It didn't do well and the Xbox as a newcomer beat it out, you're arguing about going the traditional route yet the 2 consoles that have accomodated this (the GC and the Wii U) have done the worse commercially which again shoots down your logic end of.
I like how you're making all sorts of assumptions on a device you know nothing about as well like online and price, you don't know whether the console will be sold at a loss of whether the specifications are cheap enough to accomodate the new, X1 specs will be cheap now especially with out the media features and all that MS and Sony go for. Seeing as you know about the NX online please enlighten us.

Gamecube made Nintendo money unlike the Wii U route which they seem to be taking. And Nintendo didn't get much third party support after a few years. People are going to buy a Nintendo System based on their first party lineup thats it. Im basing a lot of assumption based on Nintendo moves. Nintendo seems to not understand they will never be successful again if they keep this up. Gamecube worked out great for them money wise. Nintendo Wii U.... not so much.
Also it is heavily rumoured (just like the controller) the specs of NX will be on par with xbox one and ps4. What is the point if no third party developer is going to support it for long? Most people want playstation and xbox one for third party games because that is where their friends game on and the console they already bought. Not to mention Nintendo doesn't get along with third party developers.

The GCN had it's issues beside getting decent (not great) 3rd party support.
The 1,5Gbyte mini DVDs and the lunchbox design didn't help, and that the PS2 was out earlier, was as a cheap DVD player and had the cool image did it's part.
I have nothing to add to the second paragraph.

- It looks solid and high tech, well made
- Everyone else is so worried about the buttons, while I'm looking at the thumbsticks in the middle of the screen as the craziest thing. The worst part of mobile phone gaming is your fingers covering parts of the screen.
- There are now two different images of two different versions (colors) of this device. Not saying its real, but where there is smoke, there is fire.
