Bare in mind I said the 'p' doesn't matter if the bolded is true.

Ah didn't catch that and I do agree.

Let me reiterate it again on the resolution issue. I said Xbox gamers usually are not really too concerned about resolution.

State of Decay was the most beloved game of Xbox gamers in 2013 and it played at times like a slideshow. Undead Labs hit a home run with it.

Most gamers can't even tell the difference between resolution and frame rate.

What Xbox gamers/Remedy fans expect from them is that full Remedy experience. This resolution bickery can come up if they don't deliver on their premise.

This first bolded statement is a subjective thing based on which Gen we are talking about.  When 360 was leading the charge the shoe was literally on the other foot.  Xbox fans were showboating and talking about how the games looked and performed better on their platform of choice and Sony fans were saying "resolution doesn't matter nearly as much as you think it does."  Now, with PS4 leading the charge it is the exact opposite.  Natural course of things for those who feel the need to tout one item over another in a war of preference.

With all that said, I agree with your second bolded statement.  Especially when we are talking about games in motion and not just looking at a screenshot.  Numbers are something people can rally behind or defend against, so they naturally become focal points unfortunately.  Quantum Break is the game I bought my XB1 for.  My reaction to it is going to be based on "do I like the art?  does the technical stuff hold up?  and lastly, did I have fun?" nothing about the pixel count is going to matter to me.

You're talking forum warriors. I'm talking regular Xbox gamers.

The ones that made COD one of the best selling games of all time, that made Xbox Arcade successful, etc...

You mean the same ones that are now playing on PS4 and making COD sell better there, and PS4 indie games the go-to for the indie experience as it exists on consoles today?

They not only don't care about resolution, they don't care about the brand.  They play on the popular box.  Last gen it was Xbox.  This gen it is Playstation.  They don't help your argument, they actually grossly hinder it.

Another blurry game on X1, anybody surprised ? With that king of GPU ?

It's interesting but isn't 30 fps a bit low to use 4 frames to reconstruct a 1080p frame.

Killzone SF MP ran at 60 and used 2 frames (33ms), and still needed a lot of AA to hide the problem areas while turning, giving it a far softer look than single player.
4 frames at 30fps, that's 133ms, a lot of displacement to compensate for in that kind of time frame. The game has a ton of effects to hide it and is pretty dark overall which helps, but I'm curious how they do it.

I'm not a fan of temporal AA, temporal motion blur etc as it all leaves unwanted artifacts, nor heavy AA in general. I rather have some jaggies than a overall soft look. The order was very pretty yet looked more like dvd than blu-ray quality.

Digital Foundry update on Remedy response.

So here is why The static pixel count was inconclusive for DF. Clever Remedy,

In effect, we are seeing the technique used in Alan Wake on Xbox 360 as an initial basis - a sub-native resolution paired with excellent 4x MSAA. But crucially, on top of that, visual information from four previous frames is integrated into the current one to increase perceived resolution - explaining how standard pixel counting on static scenes produces a higher result. We'll have more on this, along with a deeper look at Quantum Break's remarkable visuals in our upcoming launch coverage.

X1 powerhouse game and its 720P 30FPS...meh ill pass on it

Digital Foundry will explain it they have said in an update on their original article. Remedy did a good job with is. I posted an excerpt above.

As DF has said in an update. Its not 1080p on output resolution. Its some clever tech. They will explain when they have a release copy they have said.
