Let me reiterate it again on the resolution issue. I said Xbox gamers usually are not really too concerned about resolution. State of Decay was the most beloved game of Xbox gamers in 2013 and it played at times like a slideshow. Undead Labs hit a home run with it. Most gamers can't even tell the difference between resolution and frame rate. What Xbox gamers/Remedy fans expect from them is that full Remedy experience. This resolution bickery can come up if they don't deliver on their premise. |
This first bolded statement is a subjective thing based on which Gen we are talking about. When 360 was leading the charge the shoe was literally on the other foot. Xbox fans were showboating and talking about how the games looked and performed better on their platform of choice and Sony fans were saying "resolution doesn't matter nearly as much as you think it does." Now, with PS4 leading the charge it is the exact opposite. Natural course of things for those who feel the need to tout one item over another in a war of preference.
With all that said, I agree with your second bolded statement. Especially when we are talking about games in motion and not just looking at a screenshot. Numbers are something people can rally behind or defend against, so they naturally become focal points unfortunately. Quantum Break is the game I bought my XB1 for. My reaction to it is going to be based on "do I like the art? does the technical stuff hold up? and lastly, did I have fun?" nothing about the pixel count is going to matter to me.
