Probably just "Crossplay light" with no public party functionality. Like with PC and PS4.

Cross play is always a neat feature, but if there are compromises on the gameplay to make it work, then that would be not worth it..

Well, there is an argument to be made for Sony not allowing Xplay with Xbox live. They are the supreme market leader and would not benefit from Xplay, since not allowing it would push more people to buy a PS4 instead. PC is not a factor since they are not competing platforms.

Pretty much this.  This would've made more sense last gen when the market was pretty even split between PS3 & XB360.

It may be the first xplay with PSN and XBL but still not the first game with xplay on a Sony console and XBL.
