That's a lot. I doubt 49% of gamers had interest in mobile games 10 years ago, or even handeld gaming before the gameboy released.

How many PCs are now VR ready? 20m? less?
51% should be out of 20m or so (thinking back to that nvidia PC vr ready claim).
Which would mean like 10m for the PC.
I don't think you can trust this survey whatsoever.
If you actually read the results from the survey (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-03-21-survey-playstation-xbox-gamers-more-interested-in-vr-than-pc-players), there's another interesting bit of information. Smartphone gamers are also more interested in VR than PC gamers! 56% of the smartphone/tablet gamers are interested in VR, compared to the 51% of PC gamers.
The same, as a matter of fact, goes for non-PS4/X1 console gamers. They score out at 57.5% being interested in VR.
But I think what truly makes this study marvellous, is the following.
Of the 10832 people asked, 35% were either very interested or interested. This means that 3791 people were either very interested or interested.
Of the 8317 gamers asked, 49% were either interested or very interested. This means that of the gamers, 4075 people were interested.
You'd think that this would have to just be because of rounding, but I can't see that being the case. It's even clearer with the people who are "Very interested". A grand total of 1191 people are "Very interested", while 1432 of the gamers are "Very interested".
If you take just the smartphone gamers who are "Very interested", that's then roughly 1378 people, which would mean that of the 2050 non-smartphone gamers in the survey, a maximum of around 100 people said that they were "Very interested". That's less than 5% as a maximum.
There are several other ways that the numbers simply don't add up in any logical way. The data contradicts itself.
