Forums - Sony - How Would A PS4.5/PS4K Be Tracked?

I mean in terms of sales here. Baring in mind that the PS4.5/PS4K is likely to be forward and backward compatible and that games will simply detect the new system and offer better 'everything', it seems to me that essentially you're still getting a PS4 but slightly more powerful. This isn't PS5 after all. So, would it be counted towards the PS4 numbers or would it get numbers of its own?

yeah it will be counted as PS4.

its just going to make things 4K compatible. nothing else. its basically the `slim` revision.

It's a difficult one though. We're going to likely see games on current PS4s running at 1080p/60fps, which to me is enough. I doubt there will be an early push for 4K games simply because 4K TVs haven't got anywhere near the market share that 1080p TVs have. I'm inclined to agree with you but I don't think it's that clean cut just yet.

For me it exactly that, after i live in switzerland, full hd TV became rare, we find UHD screen at the same price. I'm already on 4k with my tv and PC, got a 980Ti to do that, and i can run everything in 4k / 60 fps, so it's not hard for a ps4k to do that with a better graphic card !

It's far more interesting than VR, and it's working with all game, not just a few :D

I can't get back to full hd, to many aliasing  :P

How much did your graphics card cost? From what I can see they typically cost around $650. So, just curious how much do you think a PS4 with the equivalent graphics card would cost? $900? $1000? Either way, do you think that is a price enough people will pay for a games console to make it worth Sony's efforts?

It would just be counted as a PS4.
It runs the same games right? just at higher resolutions... yep its still a PS4.

If it exists, which I'm still very much skeptical about, then I don't see why it should be treated any differently than say the New 3DS.

Summed up my feelings on the matter

3DS = 3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DSXL

I would assume PS4K (which is what it had better be called) would be tracked as a PS4, regardless of consumer overlap.
