Yep. Mario Kart Wii sold 35 million units. Even on the Wii U Mario Kart 8 sold 7 million units. Mario Kart is perhaps Nintendo's biggest IP and with some online races with friends and other social stuff it would do very well on mobile. I doubt that Mario Kart will be Nintendo's next mobile game, but as you said: it's just a matter of time.
