Finally completed Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun

Is a nice manga to read, though does get slow at times. Never found it boring, but there were points that I did not have any reaction to it either way. Engaging enough to not drop it or put it on hold so that's good. Endings leaves a big impact for me but was not impressive, should have ended it at 45 :p

Only is 51 chapters long so if you are into Shoujo / Slice of Life / Romance, then it would be a good manga to try out..

Wow, it actually ended, and only 51 chapters? That's short. I may need to add that to my list.

Its the power of the cliche, the Power of the cliche!

Haha, that's what comments are saying about it too.. xD What cliche tho?

I'm guessing cloud doesn't read that many harems or stories like this. The run away tactice is textbook and cliche. She goes away, her not being around makes him realize he loves her more than -insert other girl here- he chases after her finds her and live happily ever after. Cliche...

Yeah, I dunno if I read many Harems. The few ones I did ended with the MC picking no one...

All it does is confirm the cliche ending, and this cements my dislike for chitoge as well. Also do I need to point out that she cleared out her stuff but somehow her diary is left right in the open for him to read -_- yea... sure. makes perfect sense. This manga is dumb, the plot holes are dumb, it just doesn't maker a lot of sense.

Yeah, that is a good point. It's like she wants him to find her and pick her as his girl. I expected better from her character, but this is just dumb... I did enjoy most of the rest of the manga at least. There were a lot of goof, funny moments.

I think I'm one of the few people who couldn't get into Nisekoi.  Some of the humor was good but the actual story felt very contrived to me.  I read the manga for awhile and then watched the anime for awhile but neither one hooked me.

I've started rereading Ore-sama Teacher.  It's one of my favorite manga.  Mafuyu is such a fun character.

It's about a girl who was a legendary delinquent in middle-school.  She was so strong that she unified the region and had a group of followers.  After her last brush with the law and being expelled, however, her mother had enough and sent her to a private school in the mountains.  If she got kicked out there, she would be disowned (or worse).  Mafuyu decides to take this chance to be a 'normal girl' like in shoujo manga.  Unfortunately, it turns out that someone at the school knows about her past and isn't afraid to use her as a pawn in their own game.

I guess Nisekoi was finally translated. I usually read spoilers the same day most Jump manga come out...cuz I'm impatient. It's kind of amusing to see certain people's reactions I guess. I'm constantly reminded of the Nisekoi Otter Meme whenever I see people talk about it. XD

Nisekoi isn't something I'd recommend to everyone, even though it's one of my top 3 weekly manga. It overuses red herrings and common tropes, but balances it out with lots of lampshade hanging...which definitely can be a turn off for some people. Personally, I find it hilarious, and it has a charm I don't see often, and with a few exceptions, most of the cast is a lot of fun to watch. Whenever someone asks about it, and if they'd like it, my usual response is, "That depends. Are you me?"

That being said, even though it's primarily SoL/comedy, I can fully admit the romance is what draws me in the most. The premise of two polar opposites that are forced into a relationship, only to grow to become each other's most important person, is something that really took hold of me. I can't remember the last time I found a fictional pairing this endearing. It's fantastic!

The recent manga has been really harsh on me for that reason...though I know it's all necessary in the end. I'm looking forward to seeing the next few weeks for sure. The manga will probably be over soon...but my avatars certainly won't stop!

Anyhoo, I have a horrible manga experience to share. Last night I saw Gintama was updated on my usual manga site. I love the anime, so I thought I'd see how the manga read, just to get a taste.

That was a very poor decision on my part. I really should have asked Shadow first. I did not expect to see Kagura's dad to die on the very first chapter I tried out. Guh...figures I get one of the very few serious story arcs.

This basically sums up one of my big problems with Nisekoi that makes my least favorite Manga that i am caught up to. Cause it always finds a way to drag on when there are so many moments that felt like it was building to its ending but something happens to make it drag on like introducing another girl that Raku might have made a promise too or just met but that girl falls for him or having a a few story arcs in a row that has nothing to do with the pendant. It really feels like this would be a much better series if it was around a 100 chapters long and only focused on the love triangle between Chitoge and Onoder and finding out which one of them made the promise to Raku.

I honestly kind of miss those pointless filler chapters now that the manga is moving a mile a minute.

Personally, I would have liked to see something more along the lines of the one-shot, that only really involved Raku, Chitoge, and their families, but turning the series into a harem comedy probably is a big reason it grew so popular. I do think that there is a lot of fluff that could have removed in the middle. After 51 or so, but before the rejections started, it seemed like there was giant black hole of filler. Not all of it was bad (Hana, Amnesia, and the Move arcs were all sublime), but there was a lot of pointless stuff that you could remove and still tell the same basic story.

Still, seeing as how it's a slice-of-life and comedy first...I'm not sure I can say those chapters should have been removed...as they helped to develop the existing characters. Just an observation I guess.

Finished a short but sweet(?) manga: Bocchi na Bokura no Renai Jijou

Comedy / Romance manga about a loner and awkward boy meeting with a new transfer girl.. and you can guess the ending. Only 14 chapters long

The boy is an idiot

Nisekoi is a manga I definitely enjoy for its comedy. There are just a lot of moments that leaves me laughing a lot through it. Moments like Raku taking care of Marika's pet parrot, Tsugumi and different drugs with random effects, Raku and Haru chapters, etc. Towards the later parts of the manga, I felt the manga was losing that and I started to lose interest and wondered why I even liked it. Buying the manga and rereading it, I am being reminded on why I loved it. It's really funny and entertaining. Though I don't like how it appears to be rushing to end now.
