Forums - Gaming - The Witcher 3: Most Awarded Game of All Time

None of the past GOTYs are comparable as the amount of media outlets has risen ever since. Any game that dwarfs its competition in its release year will most likely break a new record.

Do some people just have too small of an attention span to actually read something before joke-posting? Or are they that eager to troll after getting their feelings hurt by The Witcher 3?

Around the Network

Never really held any of those awards in high regard anyways... I don't even know one.

But...but Bloodborne! Fallout! Metal Gear!

Yeah both tough years and both great games. My top two actually!

Fallout got severe critics finally, Metal Gear Solid even with the great score also got some hard critics over it because of all those issues and the not being a finished game all in all and Bloodborne got forgotten being released so early in the year, sadly. Batman (which you didn't mentioned from now on) also got severe critics because of the PC port, and Xenoblade new game also couldn't go all the way up to the first game in reception. The Witcher 3 had it in the bag all over, and I'd been saying that all over last year.

Now TLOU went against a new Pokemon generation, a great handheld Zelda game, an amazing last and unique Bioshock game, one of the most unique and well received Assassin's Creed in a good while, Super Mario new console game also got amazing critics, Ni no Kuni getting one of the warmest receptions for a new IP as well, Rayman new game got a lot of love, and freaking GTA record smashing new game. While Gran Turismo, God of War, Gears of War, Batman and Beyond to Souls where the ones with harder critics and lower scores.

2013 was one of the very best years we had in gaming, TLOU was huge to completely dominate the media around it on such a year.
There is not even a comparision between 2013 and 2015.

TLOU only competition that year was GTA5 which in its favour, a new IP will always have the upper hand. 2013 is by far one of the least impressive years iv seen. Not saying there werent no good games but look at that list. Alot were nothing more then good solid games and sequals. GTA5 and TLOU were the only breath taking games that year. Clearly one had to win most of them and it could have gone either way. In this case TLOU did. Same can be said for The Witcher 3.

This is really great!!!
The Witcher 3 is a game which completely deserves this honor imo.
