I'd recommend reading the books. Five books released already and two to come. The first two are short stories introducing the characters. The second one is really really good. The sixth is going to be released in a few months and the seventh will be released a year later.

Wait, aren't eight books released already?

Not in English. I think they didn't start translating until they saw the success of the game.

They missed translating The Sword of Destiny at first which is a disaster in my opinion. Good thing I didn't start reading until recently.

If it is one game that I can say is overrated,it's this.Gets boring after a few hours, but if feel that is done to the fact I hated exploring in the game because of the combat. The combat was underwhelming at best and given combat is supposed to be a huge part of the Witcher. It really missed the mark there and I'm yet to finish it,despite buying on lunch day.

Deserved.

The books are better, how many awards did they get?

TW3 is a good game, TW2 had me more engaged however. I didn't bother with the multiple endings in TW3, yet completed all the branches in TW2. Too much filler in the 3rd one for another play through, it became tedious in the end. Plus choice had far less impact. It did make lots of pretty screenshots.

No suprise. Well deserved. However lets not forget that the industry has grown immensely where there are heaps more awards to win today then there were 10 years ago. Dont let the awards overshadow games like Zelda Ocarina of Time, Half Life 2, Halo Combat Evolve, Final Fantasy 7 etc. Especially since many great games in the past had to fight over each other for the awards. Witcher 3 and TLOU had barely any competition in there years of grace.

More awards with about 100 less chances... Incredible. Truly deserved imo.

Whatever.

Given the increasing size of the industry, there are far more of these arbitrary awards than there were even 10 years ago, so this would skew in favour of recent releases. It also skews in favour of broad crowd-pleasers. Game awards have only been around for about a fifth as long as the Oscars and already I find myself tuning them out.

thats because its 2015 and the internet is as big as it is

Well deserved. Its one of my favorite RPG's of all time. EA needs to take some tips from the Witcher 3 when handling Mass Effect.

The Last of Us bored me to tears. The linearity, generic story, barebones gameplay, lack of options and freedom, ridiculous lack of enemy type (seriously, only 4 or 5 enemy types for the entirety of the game), no boss battles, weak OST etc. were all just fatal blows for me when put together. Never really understood why some people like it.

The Witcher 3 has already become my favorite game of all time so I'm happy it is getting the praise it deserves.
