Forums - Gaming - The Witcher 3: Most Awarded Game of All Time

A hollow victory for a hollow man in a hollow world without bows and arrows.

It's good game, but really not that good.

I find Witcher 2 to be better game and its format more suited for story of Geralt, and as an open-world action-RPG TW3 has too many problems compared to pinnacles of genre.

How did it not win every GoTy (same goes for TLoU), the game is miles ahea dof everything else released last year. There are some places that managed to give GoTy to Fallout 4 over Witcher 3, thats a very bad joke.

How are there 94 less possible GOTY awards now than 2013? I would assume many smaller sites folded, but I would think others would sprout up.

I've never been impressed by how many awards games win all time, because there are simply way more websites now than there were in the past. It's kind of like how 4000 passing yards in a season for a QB is not a big deal now but would have been viewed as incredible only a short time prior.

But to get more awards with almost 100 less chances, that's pretty good.

Probably selective sample size. It's blogspot rating this, after all.

Good for Witcher 3. Probably will end up being one of the more forgotten GotY winners when all is said and done, though, so this (alleged) victory is gonna end up being moot. As somebody who continues to stand by my opinion that TLoU was painfully average, it's good to see the king dethroned.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

i could see why last of us won, but i really didnt think witcher 3 was all that great tbh

Bad gameplay, they really need better combat design, it's the worst in business. I mean Western devs usually are not good with combat, the eastern europeans are even worse at it but damn. Can't believe how something so important is so bad in an otherwise great game.

Well deserved imo.

And I still have no desire to play it. What's wrong with me?

I'd recommend reading the books. Five books released already and two to come. The first two are short stories introducing the characters. The second one is really really good. The sixth is going to be released in a few months and the seventh will be released a year later.

Hm, I don't know, Witcher 3 has fairly decent combat, especially considering it's in genre where there are other things that are much more important - that's actually the least of its problems.

As for western devs not being good with combat - yeah, it's a hit and miss, but then again, one of the best, and arguably THE best close quarter melee combat systems so far (until Kingdom Come: Deliverance launches) was developed by Spanish devs in Severance: Blade of Darkness...for example, compared to that, Souls/Bloodborne combat system, given they are trying to emulate same sort of engagements, is pretty uninventive and tedious after a while, yet that didn't stop those games to be great experiences.

Wait, aren't eight books released already?

You mean people like different games?  That's ridiculous.
