Forums - Nintendo - I think third party devs have a mindset that gimped Wii games will sell anyways....

gimped games are cheap, easy, and relatively risk free.

developers are assholes. but hey, that's the business.

as tastyshovelware says - its business

Manchester United 2008-09 Season - Trophies & Records

Barclays Premier League 2008-09: 1st // UEFA Champions League 2008-09: Finals (Yet To Play) // FIFA Club World Cup: Winners // UEFA Super Cup: Runners-up // FA Cup: Semi-Finals // League (Carling) Cup: Winners // FA (Charity) Community Shield: Winners
Records: First British Team To Win FIFA Club World Cup, New Record for No. Of Consecutive Clean Sheets In Premier League, New English & British League Records for Minutes Without Conceding, New Record For Going Undeafeated In Champions League (25 games ongoing), First British Team To Beat FC Porto In Portugal, First Club To Defeat Arsenal At The Emirates In European Competition, First Team In English League Football History To Win 3 Titles Back To Back On Two Seperate Ocassions

Yeah it's really too bad. If they'd start bringing some AA titles, and using their 1st/2nd string developers, there could be a lot of potential for some really great games.

With Rockband 2, they'll probably fix some of these problems, since by then (hopefully) Nintendo will have a fix for the space issue, and they'll be able to build the game from the ground up for the Wii. I don't know why they didn't include online though.

The way things are running, most third parties sooner or later will realize that their current approach won't work and that they have to make better games for the Wii if they want to stay in business. If they don't... well, that's their problem.

Why?  The userbase of the PS3 and 360 go up every day.  Each day the potential for profit goes up and once you have an engine built you can reuse combined with developer experience which grows with each new undertaking on the respective platforms you have a recipe for productivity.  Developers may have trouble on the first PS3 game or two, but once they figure out its kinks their costs will drop.  On top of that, HD graphics are the future.  The more developers focus on the non-HD graphics, the more handicapped they'll be in the next generation when every system is HD bar none.

Developers who support the PS3/360 won't suddenly go out of business because they don't support the Wii and it's more than likely they'll be in a much better position skill-wise next generation if they support the other systems.

It's like you want to be in the stock market and you ignore Wall Street; or into movie producing and ignoring Hollywood. You just cannot turn your back on the market leader. You'll do your best to get a share of the pie.

Nintendo is not the Wall Street of the gaming industry.  It just spent the last two generations in the dump and its latest system is no more appealing to developers than its previous ones.

Even the National Enquirer has had a few good runs during its lifetime, but people looking for real news are going to pick up the Wallstreet Journal or the New York Times instead.

At least the Wii is getting the game. I think the "No Downloadable Content" is due to hard-drive space, honestly.

Either way, to the bigger problem in general, I believe that everybody thought the Wii software sales would suck, and are only now hurrying to port their games over too it, and in the future, it will get better, most likely, cept when it involves DC and hard-drive space.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

The Wii is more like Fox News. It gets all the ratings, but everybody thinks its cool to hate on it.

Don't act like the Wii and the DS are "just a quick one time thing between PS3 domination." Your example is hinting at fanboyism. You're trying to hint that "The Wii isn't a real system, its just something people will be interested in for a time, and then it will be marginalized again."

Foolish to underestimate Nintendo consoles, profit, staying power, and popularity. Very foolish.

It's not the Wal Street of the gaming industry, but your example is fanboyism at its finest, just because you thought you could slip it in, during a Wii hate thread, doesn't mean you can't get caught. Wise up.

Did you really just compare the Wii to the steaming pile of crap that is Fox News?  Good comparison.

And who says it's a quick one time thing?  Until the Wii actually starts getting a lot of the big name titles coming to it, it may not even be that.
