I thought everyone already knew this. Yet the Wii U is still selling like trash. that's what is mind boggling...it has a lot of really good games but it seems like no one really wants it.

This list is just exclusives, if multiplat titles were included than it would look completely different and multiplats are what sell PS/XB.

This has been said again and again but the bottom line is people don't buy consoles for exclusive games. Heck, most people don't even know what an exclusive game is. I'm sure countless people at GameStop have asked for Halo on PlayStation or Pokémon on XBox. People buy consoles based on marketing and good word of mouth. Wii U had horrible marketing and no word of mouth.

Kudos to the Wii U for having great exclusives though.

People do.

Its just that lacking 3rd party is a biggery negative for nintendo, than them haveing good exlusives.

Metacritic score 80 or above:
PS4:  128 games
Wii:  56 games

Exclusives doesnt paint the entire picture.
Factor in all the games the system have, and it shows a very differntly.

Except this is strictly about exclusives.

The problem is sheer numbers. Whether this analysis is true or not, Sony has made it seem like they are just pushing out a ton of high quality games. That is another reason why the HD remakes or updates are such a brilliant idea. Nintendo should be pushing this really hard. An easy way to fill in game gaps and it should not be too hard for them to remake these games. Expecially on the NX.

This is true and to top it off the PS4 AND the XB1 get all the best 3rd party games as well. And looking at this list you are right I don't see remakes/remasters and they are a part of the PS4/XB1 lirbraires as well. Just like games like SFv and ROTR so yeah while this list does tell a tale it doesn't give the full picture. I mean to be honest as far as exclusives goes Nin has alywas been heads and shoulders above the rest in terms of games IMO. It is just hwile I do enjoy some of those games other just don't appeal to me personally. They appeal to others and make good sales though. But the Wii U just seems to get good games yet the system continues to sell poorly and it is too bad and sad.

Street Fighter V is an exclusive though (yeah I know "console exclusive")

Seriously, why should anyone care about exclusives?
Great games it what counts.

I'd rather play Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid 5, Batman Arkham Knight etc. than any 75 rated exclusive. And if I wanted to play a 75 rated game (which I totally do), why should I care if its exclusive or not?

"For this analysis, we are defining “exclusive” as those games that are only available to play on a single console, and nowhere else."

92 Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
76 Hyrule Warriors

I see how it is.

People dont care if games are exclusive or not.

They just care if they have good games on the system.

PS4 has more "good" games than the Wii U does, which is probably why its selling more.

People simply dont care that if 1 system has more higher rated exlusives, if it has less total, good games.

Because... fans can feel better about their purchases and gloat.

It comes down to system marketing.  The PlayStation 4 has been very well promoted.  The Wii U on the other hand is inconsistently bouncing back and forth between good marketing, mediocre marketing, and then no marketing.  2013 was almost complete radio silence until the notoriously awful late 2013 campaign.  Then silence again until the good MK8 campaign and then silence again until the modest efforts with Bayo 2 and Hyrule Warriors and the prolific but inconsistent quality push for Smash.  Then - you guessed it - almost complete silence until Splatoon.  Followed by...I think you get it.  Focusing advertising around exclusives sounds like a way to promote without torching mountains of money but Nintendo's execution means that they have never, ever built up sustained hype in the general buying public.  Yes, the informed buying public is knowledgeable enough but the general has to be told.  The majority of consumers don't frequent review sites and forums.
