Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft opening online play between Xbone/PC and other console networks (Update: Sony "responds")

I would love this to happen. Nothing wrong with expanding the online player base.

And MS had games cross play between 360 and PC years ago as well.

Of course, that isn't the discussion. This is about cross play between PSN and XBL. Well see if Sony follows suit with MS and we get cross play between the two consoles.

It's about cross play between all platforms. The fact that Sony allowed cross play with game devs well before this on a continuous basis and that sony said that they would be cool with this years ago is relevant to this thread since MS is trying to spin this question as they are the first to ask it hence why sony responsed in that way.

Nah, its not about PC crossplay. MS had that years ago as well. It's about crossplay with Live, and they didn't say a single word about it. A complete non-answer. And ifs not like they are guaranteed to be open to it just because MS is. Again, EA Access.

in the end its not a big deal really, there's no need for them to speak on Live crossplay until a game is trying to utilize it. But it was a non-answer.

Ms didn't have it years ago because MS dropped cross play after dabbling with it for a bit. Otherwise, they would have allowed cross play with most of their games that are console exclusive but they didn't. They did answer the question perfectly clear.

"PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy 11 on PS2 and PC back in 2002,”

In other words, we've been waiting for you guys to join the party since 2002.

Considering that MS opted out of FFXIV ARR because of crossplay and sony was completely willing share servers with MS. It proves Ms was the factor in cross play not happening between Sony and Microsoft. Why would sony back out now when they've been openly for it the whole time?

MS did have it years ago, on both their previous platforms :) Dropping support of it for a few years doesn't negate what they had in the past.

What Sony has going with PC is already known and irrelevant. The only thing that matters in this discussion is Live and they didn't mention it. Which again, is fine, but its a non answer and the ball is still in their court in terms of Live/PSN cross play :)

So, it's the same non answer as MS did with no mention of PSN.

Why would they allow it? They are in the lead by a very comfortable margin. They can allow it, but there is absolutely no reason to "respond" to MS immediately, or even months from now. Shu isn't gonna give up an advantage they have just to "look good".

I agree there is no reason for them respond right now and said as such in this thread :)

So they said they are open to the idea, but because they didn't specifically mention Live, it's a non answer?

Sure, buddy. -__-

I am glad you understand it, friend :)

I understand your display of bad faith.
