It would have been the strongest console of it's generation and if it managed by some magic to keep the price the same, also the cheapest. It would have gotten much more third party support and we probably would have seen an even clearer winner of the generation.
it probably would have given Ps2 a run for it's money.

for $299 in 2006, they could get around half the horse power of a x360.

O_o... dafuq?  The 360 launched in 2005 with the harddriveless model priced at $300.

And major losses on the hardware price.

A $50 difference wouldn't have a huge impact. Also, people didn't move away from the wii.

Core gamers moved away from Wii when it became obvious PS360 were offering better content there. That support also dried up relatively quick.

It takes more than your word when you're talking about 100m+ people

I don't think it would have changed much because it still would have had motion controls which was the real barrier for third parties. The power was also an issue, but that controller... it forced devs to no just downgrade a game but completely pay to redesign a special version. That was just too time consuming.

The price of the system would have increased considerably

The Xbox 360 launched with about the same specs as Wii-U in 2005 with a $299.99 SKU. That is only $49.99 more than the Wii was so, it is possible the Wii, with Wii-U specs, could have launched at $299.99. It still would have been a casual hit at that price.

Yes... which is precisely why I talked about the losses Nintendo would incur in my original post.........

Go look at the top selling games on Wii and see how it compares to PS360.

The Wii was a great success but it was a bubble. Wii was a 100+ million selling device, Wii U is struggling to achieve 20 million. Much of the casual market these days is likely using mobile devices.

Not even close. It's not even a discussion.

It compares amazingly with ps360 and any console. What does wii u have to do with this? Really, stop your tries to undermine wii's success.

That doesn't necessarily show the Wii was a bubble.  It could also just show that the Wii U was a crappy console, particularly for casual gamers.

What title was supposed to get casual gamers to buy a Wii U?  Wii Sports Online?  Wii Fit 1.5?
