My favourite franchise keeps doing well! Nice!
The cartoons.. not really a fan.
The RPG games... are enjoyable.
I still remember how blown away I was playing Pokemon Blue for the first time all those years ago. People forget that Pokemon was a brand new concept in RPG back then!
I hope Sun/Moon get a great story (like Black/White, but better). The metagame is perfect by now, no need to change that. Just focus on making an engaging story!
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

I agree, the original 100 Pokemon or so have better art, uniqueness, differences. obviously naturally when you have more and more you run out of good ideas and ways to differentiate them, but jeez there are some ugly and strange looking new Pokemon...
the original are just so pure and diverse and each has its own memory. Unfortunately it seems few newer Pokemon really stick in people's minds |
These are from Gen 1:
We have a Pokeball with a face, an upside-down Pokeball with eyes, a pile of sludge with a face, a slightly bigger, even more lazily-designed pile of sludge with a face that reminds of you its name spell backwards, a dildo with eyes and a pleasure bump, and three dildos with eyes and pleasure bumps. Oh, and never forget:
Remember that this thing once had black skin that people of my ilk might have found offensive at one point in time. So let's not pretend like the good ol' days didn't have some bad ideas. Meanwhile, here are some brilliant designs from later generations:
We have a hawk/eagle that is a cross between the Mexican flag and a high-flying lucha libre style pro wrestler, a beagle that takes after Italian artists and uses its tail as a paintbrush, a bald eagle with the colors of the American flag who is a proud Native American warrior, a lizard who represents at least three different generations of counterculture movements in American society by my count, an orangutan based on the monk Daruma and Daruma dolls, the same Pokemon in another form based on the three wise monkeys and Daruma dolls, a tortoise based on the world tortoise in many world legends, an ape based on Son Wukong from Journey to the West, and an emporer based on Poseidon.
There are some Pokemon that are brilliantly designed and clearly inspired from every generation, and there are some clear duds. Gen 1 is no different from the rest. This is coming from someone who began with Pokemon Blue from the time it came out. Blastoise is still my all-time fave, but I don't let my nostalgia blind me.

I actually disagree... the orignal are so plain... they aren't really unique at all. I mean, a rock with eyes and arms, a Pokeball with eyes... eggs with eyes... the list goes on.
I feel as though every generation has their really good Pokemon and really bad Pokemon. I mean, some of the newer ones may seem weird (like the ice cream or garbage) but their designs for them are well done. Unlike literally just a boulder or something.

Since they keep selling million with little changes, Gamefreak probably didn't really need to spend a lot of money and time for new content ever few releases.
But the positive of this is that the franchise still has many possibilities of content that can really spice things up and continue to sell millions in the next few years.
Im not sure if this related but, I think Nintendo should have plenty more yearly releases (not like those yearly Mario games. Somehing like yearly Mario Kart)
Pocky Lover Boy!

I've never owned a Pokemon game, mainly because I don't buy handhelds. However, if they ever make a tradition Pokemon game for a Nintendo home console I'm all over that!!
The kid in me says its the best series I've played. Other than that, I'm conflicted/neutral about it right now.
200m in 20 years. Amazing. Congrats.

That's how assassin's creed became cancer. Mario Kart and Smash should never go yearly(unless DLC added in the long run)
