Upgrade? It just looks different, not necessarily better.

The gif I just posted, above, is certainly a step up from 2014/15 footage. Naughty Dog's titles usually show visual progression (as they should) prior to release. The pic in the OP, for example, shows clear visual upgrades, such as additional texture mapping, AO, and DoF not seen in the previous footage.

Im just commenting on the gif in the OP, I haven't looked through the rest of the thread.  I just spent the last few minutes staring at that gif, and maybe its just the colors but the 2015 version looks warmer and better to me.  His eyes look better, the glisten on his chest looks better (imo).  Though his pose isn't 1:1, so its not an entirely fair comparison.

idk, just my opinion *shrug*

Now that's an example of a fully visible ingame model of a character.

Thunderbird, write to Naughty Dog if you want different images.  You're clearly not getting what you "want" here, and you're not going to.

You need to drop it.

At this point it is clear there's no uncharted 4 footage of what I'm currently looking for. Problem is when others say I already got what I wanted. Quite an annoying situation.

I hardly consider it that. They dropped the game from 60 to 30 frames which has given them much more room to improve the visuals in the game. I don't dislike 30fps, but after playing the Uncharted Collection, I would easily ditch the better visuals to get the game at 60 frames.

This looks really good.

Wish there was an option to make the game "ugly" at a smooth and buttery 60fps like with TLoUR, though.

Those rocks look especially good, though.

I don't recall the single player ever being 60fps. They said it was their target, but the single player has always been 30fps.

Wasn't it running at like 45fps at one of the presentations, or am I just imagining this? I'm 100% sure that there was a time when the framerate was up in the air, though.

I too remember something like that, but that was when they were still targeting 60fps. They expect people to spend more time in mutli, though, so opting for 60fps in that was probably the better option.

No, I know why they made the decision to go with 30fps now, but I was more commenting on you saying that the single player was always 30fps, because it wasn't. I found the video, btw. It was E3 last year, and it was definitely 60fps.

And from some of my favorites:

And those are just MP models. Single player character models are significantly better in polygon count and textures too.

Weighing in: The character model seems fairly identical in quality apart from the hair which does seem improved from early builds. Any perceived loss in model detail is just from the darker lighting and water logged character (and much of it returns when you fullscreen the gif). Environment textures are clearly changed and have more of a photo look than a painted one, now. I actually thought the rocks and such in the debut gameplay demo looked great in hq feeds but I guess too many felt otherwise. Oh, and the inverse kinematics on his hands in that cave clip are glorious.

Apart from the halved frame rate compared to the engine teaser and the temporarily iffy hair in the first demo it's been a nice and consistent development cycle with slight upgrades along the way, as it should be. Now if we could just get idiots to stop comparing cutscene assets to gameplay assets and crying downgrade...

If I hadn't seen your bahaviour elsewhere on the forums, I would wonder what you're trying to achieve in this thread.

Other than to show us that you're the embodiment of bad faith.

Thunderbird certainly has a point though, why cant we get a still picture of the gameplay footage you guys are providing? That's really all he's asking for.
