Forums - Sales Discussion - February 2016 NPD Thread! Hardware estimates up!

SFV, why is not showing PC as well? Is it only available digitally for PC, so NPD can't track any of its sales?

So NPD has SFV>200K according to neogaf sources, and at #7 on the chart. VGC has SFV at 247K and #2 on the chart. The actual sales nujmbers will be reasonably close, but other things sold much better.

Fire Emblem quite over tracked it would seem.

GTAV, what a beast.

Glad to see Naruto charting decently. I certainly prefer that game over SFV.

Fire emblem is undertracked.

eff Grub is on fire on twitter with NPD infos

-Naruto outsold SFV on the PS4
-Farcry Primal is outselling FC4 when aligning launches
-Counting all Sku's Fire Emblem was #3

Naruto was the top-selling game on PlayStation 4 in February

Naruto Ps4 sold more than FarCry Primal Ps4 or SFV
probably best selling single sku

You're correct

Primal > FC4 when aligning launches

“Ubisoft’s Far Cry: Primal was the top game of February 2016 with greater sales than Far Cry 4 when adjusted for the number of days the games sold within their respective launch months,” said Callahan.

so XXX Primal units / 5 days of tracking >  670k FC4 sales / 12 days of tracking

Far Cry Primal > 280k

edit:
when fire combined is ~350k and would chart #3 in the combindes sku list, this info is kind of useless...
so Far Cry Primal is between 350 and 670k

Very impressive numbers for Naruto.

Nintendo PR:

"February was a fantastic month for Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, the newest entries in the critically acclaimed strategy RPG series from Nintendo. The games took two top-10 spots on the best-sellers list from the NPD Group, which tracks U.S. video game sales. In little more than a week, the two versions of Fire Emblem Fates totaled nearly 400,000 combined units sold, including physical and digital versions. This far outpaces 2013’s Fire Emblem Awakening game, the series’ previous record-holder in the United States, and is a testament to both the longstanding popularity and rapidly growing fan base of the franchise.

Momentum should continue with today’s release of Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation, a digital-only third version of the game available for purchase to anyone who owns either Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright or Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. Fans have weekly DLC to look forward to purchasing, as well.

February also saw the digital debut of the 2D Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow games in Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The games instantly shot to the top of the charts, and together, combined to break the first-week Nintendo eShop sales record previously held by Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

With classic graphics and timeless gameplay, these versions of the original Pokémon adventure are proving to be a popular way for fans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series."

these days the software top 10 is way more interesting than hardware #1
it's 90% ps4 and some rare montsh xb1

45 minutes to go for some interesting info :D

Gosh that was probably a really boring time for you last gen when 360 spent years whitout losing any NPD.

that must have been on NA only, but the 360 was still a failure on japan like the first one, and the ps3 sold better than it on european countries. not to mention that eventually the ps3 sold more than the 360 worldwide as shown on this site main page, and that's impressive considering how bad was its initial launch and still managed to succeed more than the other, it doesn't seem that will be the case for the xbox one though.

Microsoft PR:

"The unmatched lineup of games available on Xbox One continues to generate a strong response from gamers as seen through global Xbox Live engagement and exclusive game sales. Compared to February 2015, exclusive Xbox One U.S. game sales drove a 49 percent increase and the total number of hours spent gaming on Xbox One worldwide rose 93 percent. Earlier this week, we launched the Xbox One ‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ Bundle to coincide with Ubisoft’s release of ‘Tom Clancy’s The Division’ and looking ahead to this spring, fans can look forward to the upcoming release of the highly-anticipated ‘Quantum Break,’ launching on both Xbox One and Windows 10 on April 5, as well as the built-for-Windows 10 visual showcase, ‘Forza Motorsport 6: Apex.’ We are truly grateful to our fans for choosing to play the greatest games lineup in Xbox history across Windows 10 devices, and are excited to share more in the coming months on our full lineup of holiday exclusives as well as new innovations, features and experiences coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live.”Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President, Xbox Marketing, Microsoft

I'd really like to see the Naruto PS4/Xbox One breakdown. Naruto use to be pretty big in the US. So it'd be interesting to see if an anime game popular in the US performs better on the Xbox One.

I don't see why people have hope for the Xbox One in March.

PS4 has MLB this month. That's going to more than counter any marketing rights for The Division. MLB has been up YOY for a while, and that alone should do it. Then again PS4 has a couple JRPG exclusives, and Heavy Rain remaster as well.

If Microsoft aggressively priced the Division Bundle, it might have been interesting.

They'll take March and i also think they'll take April. On top that i'll even say Ratchet & Clank will out sell Quantum Break in April.

I think you are right. Then again I'm really hoping that Quantum Break is an AAA hit, as I'm a Remedy fan. Then again, Insomniac could use a hit too.... I think I would like Xbox to win April.

Fire emblem fates was hard to find. BTW numbers exclude digital purchase as 2nd game. So it could be well over 600k for instance :)
