Forums - Sony - PSNow Adds 22 New Games Today

That's not a very good analogy. I can get a blu-ray of a movie that no longer is being shown on theaters, but I can't bring Naughty Dog to put their games on theater with a controller to play it. I do buy their blu-ray, because that's the main way of playing the game.

I'd understand a streaming rental service if blu-rays were to stop existing, and even then you can digitally purchase movies/games so that you don't have to resort to streaming.

Heck, GribbleGrunger's comment makes much more sense. PSNow is aimed for people without consoles, mainly. Because then again there's no point on puting Flower and Journey to be streamed in Ps3, PSVita or Ps4. Which is why I wonder they put them in the first place.

The word 'even' would have made me sad, but 'heck' makes me feel stupid. :(

Oh, really? I thought it sounded more like "eureka, GribbleGrunger gave me an explanation I can easily agree with!".

That's not exactly how it comes across. :)

They'll be specifically putting UC on there to broaden the appeal for the sequel and perhaps persuade a few of those people to eventually buy a PS4. That's NOT the primary reason for PSNow but I think that's why they've decided to include those games now.

Well, my fault then.

That is not how an analogy works.

He is saying that there are many different avenues open to you when wanting to experience or own a game just like with movies.

Just because you can play UC1-3 on PS3 and PS4, doesn't really change the fact that there are ppl (probably quite small) who just want to rent and stream it rather than going through the process of having to buy it. Just as there are ppl who do the same with films and don't bother to buy said film physically or digitally. Yet the films become available, at some point, on all those avenues.

And as it has been said, PSNow is not just a PS console system thing only, it is available outside of the PS console eco-system.

I still can't picture anyone with a Ps3 playing Uncharted through PSNow, outside trying the system out for the first time or comparison videos with the disc-based version. I guess the mobile/blu-ray player streaming thing does make much more sense.

my coworker just bought a ps4.   she decided to buy a year of psnow.  for a hundred bucks she has access to the entire library of psnow games for a year.  yeah, she could have purchased some of the games on ps4 that were remastered but she would very quickly spend more than $100 and she doesn't care about owning a game because she never replays a game.  she raves about the service to me.

she also bought ps+ specifically for the "free" games.  if the game isn't on psnow or ps+ she doesn't play it because while she enjoys gaming she doesn't care about new releases and she doesn't care about ownership.  she is looking for an affordable way to get games.  she likes feeling no pressure to just not play a game she started and didn't like and thinks reviews are misleading.

there is an audience for the service it's just not you (aka a hardcore gamer).

edit: and honestly i pretty much agree with here.  i don't have psnow because i really played every last gen game i want to play but this gen i pretty much exclusively play ps+ games.  it's cheap and i have more than enough games to keep me happy.  i have bought some games and i will buy some games (uncharted 4) but most retail games i'm passing on.  i just don't care much about playing a games day-1 compared to managing my spending on gaming.

While a valid example, and I won't discuss it further since I pretty much get it now, the question that remains here is, does your coworker exist, your you made her up for the sake of this exercise in explanation?

she exists.  her name is liz.  she is junior software developer on my team.  i don't lie.    ...and like i said in my edit,.. i'm personally trending in the same direction.

i love netflix. i'd love to have a gaming service as good as netflix.

psnow started out barely worth while but it's becoming more worth while every day.  if they would just add ps4 games instead of just ps3 games i would probably subscribe too.  next gen i'd seriously consider not buying next gen hardware and just doing a streaming service if it was as good as netflix is.

Great news!
