my coworker just bought a ps4. she decided to buy a year of psnow. for a hundred bucks she has access to the entire library of psnow games for a year. yeah, she could have purchased some of the games on ps4 that were remastered but she would very quickly spend more than $100 and she doesn't care about owning a game because she never replays a game. she raves about the service to me.
she also bought ps+ specifically for the "free" games. if the game isn't on psnow or ps+ she doesn't play it because while she enjoys gaming she doesn't care about new releases and she doesn't care about ownership. she is looking for an affordable way to get games. she likes feeling no pressure to just not play a game she started and didn't like and thinks reviews are misleading.
there is an audience for the service it's just not you (aka a hardcore gamer).

While a valid example, and I won't discuss it further since I pretty much get it now, the question that remains here is, does your coworker exist, your you made her up for the sake of this exercise in explanation?

she exists. her name is liz. she is junior software developer on my team. i don't lie. ...and like i said in my edit,.. i'm personally trending in the same direction.
i love netflix. i'd love to have a gaming service as good as netflix.
psnow started out barely worth while but it's becoming more worth while every day. if they would just add ps4 games instead of just ps3 games i would probably subscribe too. next gen i'd seriously consider not buying next gen hardware and just doing a streaming service if it was as good as netflix is.
