Cost, Games = PC
Everything else = MAC
Windows. For a mac to be anywhere usefull enough i'd need to at the very least dual boot windows anyway and i'm nor paying twice for two operation systems.
Aside from... no virus because nobody finds it worth their time there is no real reason to have a Mac.
What's the point of having a more stable operating system if you can't do anything on said operating system.

| loadedstatement said: Macs. I dont have time for virus/spyware. I also leave my Mac on constantly (only restart or turn off when I need to install a software update). This helps me when I'm converting large files, downloading large files, or doing pretty much any large task. (Windows machines should be shut down every night). I can do everything a Windows PC can (including run Windows AND Mac OS X) and I do it more efficiently. I know there are a lot who will bash me, but I promise you if you try a Mac for a month or two, you would never go back to using Windows. |
Are you suggesting windows running on mac (i.e. intel hardware) runs more efficiently than on a pc running intel hardware?
Yes
I have spent at least 25 hours on a Mac, and I wish I had all of that time back. Some people say it is supposed to be a more pleasant experience, but I found it nothing less than excruciating. I was trying to convince the computer to do something rather than just have it do it. And its not like I am not computer savvy.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Actually, it should be:
Cost, Games = PC
Everything else = Linux
Overpriced = Mac
Linux
Linux
Linux
Best of both worlds. Wine for Linux runs World of Warcraft, Half-Life 2, and many other games at the same speed as Windows, and you get all your applications free, and you get the security and speed of Macs.
Ubuntu. Linux for human beings.
If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

What can be done on a PC and can't be done on a mac ? Nothing except games.
It seems the point of owning a Mac is the OS that comes along with it. Otherwise, you're just buying an overprice piece of hardware. Maybe it's just my University, but the Macs there run much more efficient than the PCs (they use Windows XP Professional) not to mention the PCs break down more often (although the PCs greatly outnumber the Macs). However, I only use Macs for multimedia experience. For work, it has to be the PCs.

I also like to add that PCs can run Mac OS if you're discontent with Windows.
