Lol you just don't get it.  SE damaged those IPs by going 360 exclusive in Japan.  It did them no favours.  Widely accepted as a bad thing.  Not just my opinion.

And again you shift the goalposts.  You know I'm not saying it was bad for the TR IP. I'm saying it was a bad deal for se.

But on that.  It's actually not good for the ip.  Because it will sell less in total now then it would have otherwise.  That's bad for the ip.

No... just no... we saw sales decline for the JRPGs genre on various platforms. Hey, I believe you and many others can be totally wrong.

You don't know how much SE got paid for RotTR timed exclusivity, so you can't determine if it was worthwhile.

Again, money for exclusivity compensates for lost sales. I feel like I've made this point multiple times, no need to argue.

Let's not take this too far please. The argument is getting personal and clearly going nowhere. If that continues, I'm afraid I'm going to have to lock this thread. So please move on.

You really think that Square Enix would not lend money for Hironobu Sakaguchi ? a man who made their biggest franchise.

JRPG still one of the biggest genres today, Microsoft took Star Ocean (Triple Ace), Ace Combat,  and 2 games from Sakaguchi.

Square Enix have a lot of potential sales of Tomb Raider on PS4 while Street Fighter V don't have a lot of potential sales on Xbox One, Xbox One now is less popular than Xbox 360, PS4 is where have the biggest user-base, they don't lost much with Xbox One's sales but the PS4's sales of Tomb Raider will aways be greater than the Xbox One version.

And isn't logical to say that Japan is Irrelevant when they still the 2th biggest Console market of the world.

JRPGs is still one of the biggest genres... but the most popular ones play look and feel like WRPGs.

Japan is almost its own bubble. Generally speaking, they aren't interested in the same content as the west (NA, Europe, etc). Look at Sony, huge in Japan and they can't seem to make games Japan really cares about so Sony focuses on making games for the bigger western market.

Anyhow, way off topic. Lets drop it.

LoL WTF,  PS4'S Top 5 Best selling 2015 games on Japan include Fallout 4 and Call of Duty Black Ops 3 both sold well above some Hundred of Thousands of units.

The JRPG Genre still strong, is stronger in the Japan and Worldwide, Each Dragon Quest is selling more than the previous, Dragon Quest Heros had a Debut of over 600k+ Units first week.

´Kingdom Hearts also is a JRPG and is one of the most popular franchise nowdays.

ROTTR won, people can't seem to accept it. Oh Don I actually don't have to explain so don't reply to me.

Can you explain for me since you won't explain for Don?

No or else the conversation might turn personal.

Well if I don't know then neither do you.  Again another contradiction as thet applies to both deals.

And you last point proves me right again.  Money compensates for lost sales yes?  Well capcom got money but didn't lose many sales because the x1 version would sell terribly.  SE lost a lot more potential sales because the ps4 versions of these games get the lionshare.

@darkenergy it's not hard to write a reply without getting personal. I'm all ears

So not only was SE likely reimbursed lots more money because the game will sell way more than SFV, but they also still have a very large payday coming when TR releases on PS4. Capcom on the other hand is stuck with working on SFV and putting out content all the while the game is on big discounted sale everywhere, it's been $10 on Amazon and less than $20 used at various places already.

And lastly with Capcom taking Sony's money and rushing out SFV, they clearly did a lot of damage to the brand that they otherwise would not have done had they taken their time and released SFV later, as they say they would have done without Sony's support. So all in all a real bad move by Capcom. They'll have to go back on their word about no Ultra Mega Super Deluxe CE releases.

The Release Date was decided by Capcom and not by Sony, the Reason they released so soon was for the Pro Players to play Capcom's Pro Coup.

It is Funny when you guys compare how much money Tomb Raider will do on PS4, and make it seems that the Xbox One's Street Fighter Version would give the same money to Capcom  as the Tomb Raider's PS4 Version will give to Square Enix, Anything Street Fighter sell on PS4 the Xbox One's Version would sell 1/3 or even less than that. Not even last generation Xbox 360 outsold PS3's numbers for fighting games and not even on USA(where it had 20+ Millions of Lead).

The Money Capcom lost with Xbox One is comparable with the Money Square Enix will lost because of a late port.

They lost a lot of money by rushing out a bad product. Capcom should've taken their time like they originally planned. They damage their brand and I don't think Sony would be investing into future iterations in the series seeing how much is sold. Capcom will probably have to make multiple versions of sf5 now.

what are you talking about? Their plan was to launch when they launched or probably even earlier... what they public said was that in their financial state there wouldn't be a SF V or that it would come very late (not that it was what they wanted).
