If TR would have sold 5 million last year on PS4 even among titles like Blops 3 and Fallout, then there's no reason to assume it wouldn't sell that much this year when it releases on PS4. There will be more consoles now than then, and probably no games out as big as those other two on PS4. You might have some bitter people not buying it because it's "tainted" by the Xbox deal but those people are an extreme minority.

So basically Square got paid some sum of money to postpone what were always going to be great sales on the PS4 version. Capcom got paid some sum of money to never get any sales from the Xbox version. Capcom made other mistakes outside of the exclusive deal that contributed to lower than expected sales. In the end we will never have the slightest idea of who made off better but it's hard not to logically assume it is Square, they still have a large payday coming when they release the PS4 version.

Not that I disagree with you but as a ps4 owner I'm glad it worked out the way it did so I have the option of both games instead of just one.

And as an all consoles + competent PC owner I am glad none of these greedy/shady deals will affect me if its a game I am interested in. Which SFV is not. A Redbox rental was more than enough.

Not that either fan base would be greatly affected if these games remained permanent exclusives. PS4 has Uncharted and Xbox has Killer Instinct.

You think the ratio the same, but its not. People could have assumed SFV was gonna do amazing numbers based on MKX, but it didn't happen.

It would have certainly sold better on PS4, but not 5 million based on trends of many other games.

Bottom line, its still going to sell very well on PS4. If people were willing to buy a remaster of Tomb Raider DE, many more will buy RotTR on PS4. But how is SFV gonna do on X1? ZERO.

You assume that but you forget TR is much more popular on Playstation and it was very highly rated so if a ps4 release was coming it definitely would have been very hyped.  4m minimum.  Bottom line is it would have sold waaaaaaaay more on ps4. SFV would have sold waaaaaaay less on XB1.

ROTTR sales might be good on Ps4 this year but definitely won't be anywhere near what they would have been.  And the fact we've gotten the game of the gen so far last week and it's the same genre won't help at all.

Okay, one last time and please stop dragging this on further. RotTR did lose potential sales not launching on PS4 as well, therefore MS gave money to SE to compensate for lost sales. On top of that, its still coming to PS4 and will likely be a multi million seller there. RotTR is still in a good position.

SFV isn't doing great on PS4, its not doing well on PC (based on Steamspy, RotTR is doing great and SFV is doing poor on PC), and its not coming to X1. So I hope Sony gave Capcom a lot of money because it ain't working out.

It clearly did.  It's obviously not going to sell as much now launching a year late.

SFV was never going to sell well on XB1. Between ps4 and pc 80% of sales are covered.

With tomb raider it's going to lose a lot of sales.  Because the ps4 numbers won't be anywhere near as high.

@LudicrousSpeed you're lucky you have a pc and ps4. Good choice getting those!

It's a shame to see SFV pulling in such mediocre numbers, but i'd be lying if i said i don't think it's justified. I've heard a lot of good things about the games foundation, but as an overall product it's clearly lacking.

I wonder if its legs will improve as more content is released, or has the damage already been done?

Mortal Kombat is Gore Street Fighter is Artistic and both Fanbase hate each other so you could not make predictions based on Mortal Kombat's Sales.

How much money they gave for Square to cover the Hole of the other plataforms ? not even 1 Million of units that would be 30+ Millions of US$ would be enought to make it worth.

That extra 20% could have helped Capcom reach their original sales goal. :-p

It could have been a situation of SE needing the money or a loan fast. Remember when MS got the GTAIV DLC exclusivity for a year? That was a $50 million loan apparently.

We can just assume it was a lot of money to get their attention.

Buying SFV exclusivity probably isn't cheap either given it can never come to Xbox and their sales expectations were high.

Their sales goal would have been higher if it released on xbox so no it was always going to underperform.

Microsoft compensated and so did Sony.  Rumour has it they funded the game and the marketing.  Not like they didn't compensate for the small number of xbox sales.  And it wouldn't have been hard to cover it.

I know, I was joking.

We don't know how SFV would have sold on Xbox. I mean MKX has sold well over a million X1. SFIV was a multi million seller on 360. I'm sure all that was taken into consideration when Sony and Capcom were making a deal.
