Forums - Nintendo - GameXplain's Paper Mario: Color Splash Analysis

A lot of the gameplay analysis and conjecture is in the beginning of the video. I only played and paid attention to the details of TTYD so I'm just going to  wait and see more gameplay and see if its for me. For some of you this may be enough to either see all you need to see to hate the game or wait to see more. Idk.

My only grudge about this is that with so much talk about cards, decks, and drawing I can only think: "WHERE IS MY YU-GI-OH game!?"

*cries in the corner over wasted potential*

The amount of detail in this game is incredible.

I wouldn't go that far, but it looks really good.

The part about enemies refilling paint is VERY IMPORTANT

This would mean that approaching enemies is encouraged by the game, as it provides an essential ressource.

It could most definately have a major impact on the feeling of the game as a whole, to be seen if it is positive, negative, or neutral.

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

There has to be a way to get more paint outside of battle though. One possible way is pointed out later in the video, that you just find paint globs lying around.

Although i haven't played any other Paper Mario game, i'd say this one looks pretty good. Looking forward to hearing more from it

Hmmm... I was thinking if they tried to solve the broken battle system of Sticker Star. The only way to do this imo, is that fighting enemies is really worth it, because in SS, there's no point on it. Which is totally absurd. So if you have to manage that "color-meter", which is central to battles, why not making "EXP"-based (as well as HP) increasing the maximum paint you can use? It doesn't solve some fundamental flaws on SS, but I think it'll be an improvement at least. Still not convinced, though.

Sounds good to me.

Alright I will grant that there's one possible good thing here, being that despite the return of "Thing objects," they don't take up anymore inventory space than any other card, so you're more likely to have the specific one you need for each puzzle and boss since you can carry them all. Well atleast until you waste them trying to figure out which one is the right one. Of course the gamebreaking issues still remain and this is only a possibility, but it's better than nothing towards the hope that this game will atleast be 0.1% better than SS!
