Forums - Gaming - Will No Man's Sky be this year's Evolve?

No Man's Sky just keeps getting massively overhyped. Still likely to be good, but there's a high probability of bugs and boredom given the scope Hello Games is going for.

Sure it's big and beautiful. But is it a cohesive, fun experience? This can difficult given the number of things going on in this game. 30 min previews here and there can only take you so far to tell you anything about a game's longetivity - only the actual release will tell us that.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I have no clue. Time will tell
I like the concept, though

I don't know who's idea it was to charge 80$ for an indie game but they are out of their fucking mind.

It's $60 and we'll find out if it's worth it come the reviews and playthroughs. Until then, we don't know if it's worth it.

80$ in Canada,92$ with taxes actually which is just crazy for an indie game to me.

Better than claiming it's perfect from the get go which is what we're currently rolling with until you get told "it's crap", you are a half full glass guy and I'm a half empty.

No, you have a full glass but decide to get a bigger glass so you can pour the contents into that and call it half empty. I'm still waiting for it to be poured.

So you don't want to end it here then, you want to carry on regardless?.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

You responded to me. It's YOU that clearly didn't want to end it here. Are you like this in real life?

"Clearly you don't understand what I mean so let's end it here."

Are you like this in real life yourself?, do you also snap things with your fingers or make the snap sound?.

That's the price of a regular retail game there then what's the problem? It's a full AAA game because sony backed it. You're getting hung up on the word "indie" too much.

How do you know that? That's only what you think/believe but the reality once you play it might be something completely different. Personally, I'm going to be trying to uncover more of the lore, the languages and I'll be seeking out blueprints to improve my equipment.

That's only what I beleive based on what I've been watching. Despite all the neat little gizmos and upgrades you'll get (which is what I can get in Starbound besides temp control or reouting power to a laser), you're still trying to explore places and get to the centre of the universe, kill some aliens and creatures along with trading, the basics in games like Minecraft, Terraria and Starbound, all of which feature exploration, trading, tagging of their own varities, upgrades to your equipment, in Starbound you need different suits to be upgraded to withstand different atmospheres on different self generated planets, otherwise you're toast, same with the different self generated creatures that inhabit each planet, hell I can't even go on an asteroid or moon planet without a space suit in order to mine the type of element there to power my ship.

Languages would likely be a unique aspect to NMS but even then Starbound has different races that already speak in different tongue, all of which could be hostile or friendly, to trade or to kill. The more I learn about NMS, the more I see it as a game that's using pre existing ideas from other games but at the same time playing it safe and going with an artistic approach to how you explore and what your goals will be.

I made the point to someone (cannot remember who), but I am not expecting them to show off too much of the actual gameplay of the game because that is part of the exploration/discovery of the game. This is why they only gave press 30 mins playtime.. they are trying very hard to not ruin the game for everyone else, because as I said its about that discovery.

Discovery of self generated content and planets.

Evolve was made by the guys who made the Left for Dead games. It was a huge AAA release nothing at all like NMS. The game had DLC and skins that in total cost more than the game itself. There were only a few maps, and most people found it boring to play as anything other than the monster, when in fact the majority can't be the monster. The game was reliant on its multiplayer community to keep it running, as you need other players.

The games and circumstances are not even remotely similar.

Jim Sterling just did a video on this. People somehow allow every triple AAA game no matter how little content it has to get a pass for being full price, yet simply because a game is labeled "indie" even if it has significantly more content (not necessarily the case here) somehow is not allowed to be full price. It is as if somehow the term "indie" devalues the game.
