Forums - Gaming - Will No Man's Sky be this year's Evolve?

we all remember last year when Evolve was released-- oh wait, no we dont because that game got exactly zero traction after hitting steam. The game was hyped up to be the greatest indie game to ever hit stores after promises of ground-breaking graphics for an independant studio coupled with a "new" style of multiplayer team battles. For the short time people actually cared about it, our only way of describing it was "a game of cat and mouse where if the mouse eats enough cheese he can eat the cat".... anyways, there were a lot of issues people had with the game that I feel are being paralleled with No Man's Sky as it nears its release date.

so lets compare, both have an initial price tag of $60, or full price for a AAA title. both have relatively simple concepts, although from different angles. and both rely mainly on that one style of gameplay with not much else added in. now, im not knocking No Man's Sky as a terrible game, but it and Evolve do seem to have similar paths. i wouldnt be surprised if it suddenly disappears only a short time after launch

What's Evolve? I have been following No Man's sky for a long time.
Oh online multiplayer shooter. I think the single player space sandbox genre is a little less saturated.

Evolve was killed by it's shady DLC practices which is something I don't think No Man's Sky will attempt. I personally have no interest in NMS but I'm sure many will find it appealing.

Signature goes here!

I don't remember Evolve having much, if any, hype...

I do remember it getting some "Game of E3" awards.

Signature goes here!

can't see the connection

It will be a game people will buy and enjoy, won't be anything mainstream or even be considered that must have game.
