Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Funding Beyond Good And Evil 2 (RUMOUR)

To be honest, if it's really a NX exclusive, it's smarter to not name it "Beyond Good & Evil 2" only because the first BGE wasn't on a Nintendo system, so the n-fanbase didn't play it. Well, if they port the first BGE on NX that would solve the problem, like they did with Bayonetta, but that may not be worth it this time.

But I still find that name pretty stupid.

Someone already addressed the Gamecube situation which doesn't matter since it sold so poorly, but you think Beyond Good and Evil a stupid name?

Nah the first name is ok, it's more "Legacy of the Philosophers" which sound dumb at my ears.

You mean The Prejudices of Philosophers? You know, I'm conflicted. On the one hand, it definitely is a really cumbersome name. On the other hand though, I kind of enjoy that it isn't trying to be a "cool video game subtitle." The subtitle kind of reminds me of like old YA mystery novels, so it's a bit cheesy in a nostalgic way. I'm not sure I mind, though I see why you might.

If it saves the game from never being released then I'm for it.

I haven't played the original, but always heard good things about it. I would definitely try the new one, regardless of the platforms it comes out, but I guess this would be a good move for Nintendo as it would attract some vocal fans and help filling their early library of good games.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I doubt it but hey cool for the fans

Definitely fake, I've seen Nintendos leaks and this wasn't on the list.

I'm gonna regret asking, but what are you even talking about?

It was a reference to my last thread xD

Well, I don't put it past Nintendo to flush money down the toilet. I can't see any benefits for Nintendo in this. Even looking beyond Beyond Good & Evil, it can't be expected that Ubisoft will treat Nintendo systems with respect because of a token of goodwill from Nintendo. The opposite is more plausible to happen, that Nintendo will have to spend money for almost everything afterwards, except the crap games that Ubisoft wouldn't dare to publish on any other platforms.

I agree i highly doubt Nintendo would do it. Beyond Good and Evil doesnt seem to be a good game to me either.

That doesn't really matter much. The original game has high critical acclaim, so that's all that matters in terms of perception. Even so, the game already looks very stylistically different from the original, and the director has alluded to the fact that this would be a very different game.

As for you believing is, I would never scoff a rumor started by a journalistic website as big as Destructoid. They are far more careful about starting rumors like this because they have far more to lose when they are wrong. That, on top of the fact that their two independent sources where saying the same things about this alleged game without collaborating on the information, makes it very difficult for me to disbelieve.

Also, Nintendo published Devil's Third. This is a much safer pick.

Beyond good and evil hasnt a huge following and dedicated fans like Shenmue or Castlevania for example. It was criticley acclaimed by these journalist, not by gamers. The game just looks boring and so does look the main character, she looks like a kindergarten teacher.

If Nintendo really does it they will regret it soon.

It doesn't matter. This sequel looks completely different than the original, and they are developing it with the intent of it being different. The same thing happened with Fallout when Fallout 3 came out, and now its a massive franchise, much bigger than it ever was before. The same could easily happen here. It was critically acclaimed by both. No offense, but your personal opinion on how the game looked has no baring on the sales viabiliy of its sequel. You thinking it looks boring means less than nothing.

Knowing Ubisoft now, and seeing the game's teaser, this is probably running the engine that was used in Syndicate/The Division, which means that it will look pheonominal. They've been working on this game for at least 7 years, so it likely won't launch as a broken mess. With the way Ubisoft handles game narratives, it will be far more involved when it comes to writing and far more cinematic, which this gaming generation eats up. This generation also eats up strong female protagonists, so they have the advantage there. The setting in BGE is breathtaking and unique, and that will translate pheonominally to the realistic AssCreed engine. Having that cyberpunk style world with the realistic anthromorphic animals, all rendered in an open world will be absolutely eaten up, especially with the titular narrative themes of conspiracy and big brother laced in. It may as well be Ubisoft's answer to Horizon - Zero Dawn.

If Nintendo gets this, it will be a massive win for them. Absolutely massive. Especially if its made using the AssCreed engine, which it looks like it is. People are going to positively fawn over this game when it's revealed, and if its revealed exclusively on NX, that fawning will transfer over to that platform. Getting BGE2 will make the Bayo2 get look like childs play by comparison. It's a huge get, and this it the time where people like this stuff.
