There are some really good anime to look foward to and there are some I am really excited for.
What are your most anticipated anime of the year? Don't need to be nearly as in depth about it or anything, I just really wanted to express my enthusasim for these ones.
Here is my list from least to most anticipated. There may be one or two I am forgetting so I'll update if I remember.
*Sinbad, Terraformers, Kabeneri of the Iron Fortress all look good and normally they would be on my personal list, but I'm not really anticipating them for one reason or another.
Kiznaiver
The ony one here not to have a manga beforehand. I'll be honest, I'm not sure I will like this one. Not because of Ninja Slayer (which reminds me quite some time ago I'd said I would make a thread about it...). The plot is very intersting, but looking at it so far seems that the characters here seem a bit less distinct than their previous works. At the same time, i'm drawn in to what Trigger does. They have a tendency to break all my expectations in a positive way with both animation and writing so I am really looking foward to this.
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure Part 4: Hype is Unbreakable
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure blew me away. Its amazing how great old school anime/manga not only stand out but atop many current ones in this animation era. I would probably watch a lot more anime, if we got old school ones like this and Parasyte. Anyway, I struggled to not seek out Part 4 of the manga, this is the only JoJo that I 100% know nothing about (got tidits of info here and there for Part 5 and 6. Read Steel Ball Run). I prefer the different artstyles of 1-3, but I am nonetheless excited for Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable.
Boku No Pico Hero Academia
This one I feel doesn't need that much of an explanation. If you read one of my previous thread on it, you know I greatly enjoy Boku No Hero Academia and have VERY High expectations for this one. Frankly, it feels a bit too soon for an anime because I'm afraid its going to be like other really good manga that got cut short in their anime because they make it too early and end up cutting it short, giving filler, or having an alternate ending. Nonetheless, I really like Studio Bones. I thought and hoped it was going to be Madhouse, but looking at the PV's I'm relatively hopeful they get this down. I'm sure this will be a homerun. In fact, this is my most anticpated anime this year.
... Or at least it was.
Mob Psycho 100 (Percent Hype)
I saw this relatively late. This one needs everyone's attention. Remember One Punch Man anime? That was the animated version of the manga redrawn by Murata. Threechapters in, when it first released, I knew this was getting an anime and I knew it was going to be huge. I wish I told more people before hand just for the sake of prediction. Anyway, the orignal, ongoing, One Punch man, by author ONE, looks terrible. Especially in comparison:
The writing however is just too good. A lot of people were able to see the writing style through Murata's remake. Keep this in mind: ONE, like the the Saitama's occupation, writes One Punch Man as a hobby. His original intent was to use it as template and as satire.
Mob Psycho 100 is much better written. ONE's character art still looks bad but better, backrounds are altogether better, but its writing is good. Like really good. The comedy, the tone, the character development, its all high quality. Now I know I'm praising on ONE's writing a bit. What I want to stress is that it fits so well in the type of things he writes. Its never boring or tired or feels a sense of generic development that could meld characters from different animes or manga into one another. I know there is a PV somewhere, I haven't seen it yet. Its definitely going to be based on the manga's art direction and animated by BONES, so I imagine its going to look very dedicated. Here's the PV:
