Sun and Moon were just confirmed as a new generation. That's honestly so depressing for a number of reasons. First, Gen 6 is now irredeemably bad, not even reaching its proper conclusion. Second, Pokemon is stuck on 3DS hardware for ANOTHER generation. This is the first time I've actually not been excited about a new Pokemon game, and I've been playing for 20 years. Frankly, I hope Gen 7 lasts only one year. Don't drag the 3DS on any longer and just move on already.

We can't discard the possibility of a dual release, taking advantage of NX hardware. I just don't feel Gen 6 is incomplete. Actually, I prefer less Pokémon with good design that the shitiness of Gen 5, which was messy at best. I prefer to wait and see what happens, but I'm more excited now since I prefer them to move on to the next gen already, but that's just my opinion obviously. It's totally confirmed that it's new gen? I kinda expect that based on what I've seen, but is there an official confirmation?

2018: Pokemon Gen 8 (NX)

2020: Pokemon D/P Remakes (NX)

TBF we all think NX is coming 2016 (well alot lol), but if its a 2017 release, it'll mean gen 8 will come out on NX 2nd/3rd year..... Oh Well :-/

No, but there's not really a point in making a new generation for old hardware just to complete an old generation on new hardware.

Unless it was a DQ11 situation where the two versions were completely different and only had the story in common, I'd be even more pissed. I don't care about Pokemon being on NX by itself. I care about Pokemon using better hardware to finally fucking evolve. Playing Pokemon these past 20 years has been equivalent to Nintendo making OoT, MM, WW, TP, and SS all top down games while the world around them embraces the new tech. You can already see from the concept that the games are still top down, and that's because of the hardware restrictions. If Sun and Moon are also on the NX, and they still look the way I can already tell they'll look, that's the point where the games will have reached stagnation for me. Everyone has their limit. 20 years with no real progress is reaching mine.

You're not understanding me. I mean narratively incomplete. There are Pokemon and concepts that have completely been abandoned in Gen 6. I think it was Pokemon UK who specifically called it a new generation of Pokemon.

NX is near confirmed 2016 now via a Neogaf leaker who leaked Sun and Moon in the first place under the codename Niji, which has since been confirmed to be the codenames for those games.
