NX conceivably being both a handheld and home console plays off extremely well for an HD port of Monster Hunter X.
Let's acknowledge something: Monster Hunter has a DIEHARD and growing fanbase. Many of it's fans put hundreds, even thousands, of hours into it. Even if Japanese players are playing it already on 3DS - many will very eagerly go for an experience that's on an HD portable.
For western players, Monster Hunter X HD on NX would likely be their first chance at getting the title - which would make it a very promising launch exclusive. If it can garner the same or greater attention M4U did on N3DS, it can help set off a narrative that NX can be a system with strong 3rd party support and an active online ecosystem. This was probably the intended effect of MH3U on WiiU - but the western MH community hadn't grown enough yet and the network features at the time, especially for the portable, weren't strong enough to create the same bandwagon MH4 & MH4U had. All told - Nintendo and Capcom now know a lot more about how to get this franchise really, really right and NX launch seems like an obvious opportunity to take advantage of that.
We've talked a great deal about EA, Final Fantasy, and Zelda on NX this past week - but I figure I'd stir the pot even more about NX and MHXHD. Just shows you how promising the NX could be, right?
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
