Oh, it's only five minutes? Well my hype is gone. We'll get a vague main series sequel announcement and that's it. I'd much rather not have Directs become colloquial to "trailers," but I guess that's a Pokemon thing.

Directs are mostly just trailers. I don't get how the lack of filler would kill your hype, but to each their own!

Directs have substance beyond just one thing the majority of the time. What you call filler is usually content that other people care about, like a new game reveal or info about another up and coming release. If I have zero interest in Z or whatever it is I have zero interest in this Direct that's SUPPOSED to celebrate the entire series. I'd much rather have a 20 minute Direct with minor details we  haven't heard about for games like Pokken or even Detective Pikachu than just have a vague as hell basic  railer like we got with XY and a halfhearted "Happy anniversary Pokemon!" It just comes off as lazy to do something like this, with what will surely be single trailer, and call it a Direct just because fans are patiently waiting for a new Direct. They already have to go into overdrive NOT to disappoint me because they're doing a bad job of handling it thus far - it depends how they'd even play a second region in this game for me to care about it, if that rumor is true.

Maybe you are satisfied with one thing which I'm almost certain will be incredibly vague, but Nintendo has done these Directs in such a way that they've set moderate to high expectations for them, and a single trailer masked as a Direct is not gonna cut it unless they do something absolutely nuts. And hey, if they go nuts and do the fated all-gen game, then maybe it's worth the five minutes, but I doubt that's gonna happen and I doubt we really want it to happen so this is going to disappoint in all likelihood.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Ah well if you're into spin-offs more than the mainseries then I guess you'd have no reason to be hyped for this, but it's clear they're only gonna talk about one game and it doesn't mean they wont discuss others later.

We've had game specific directs many times in the past, infact Pokemon X/Y was announced this way iirc. The filler I'm refering to is like in that direct, before they got to the reveal trailer they spent 10 minutes talking about the history of Pokemon. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not new content/info, so technically it's filler. At this point, Pokken talk would be filler because we already know everything about it. Similar case for Detective Pikachu unless they give us western release dates. That's why I'd be disappointed if they did spend time on those games. I think a new entry in the core series that made Pokemon what it is today does celebrate the franchise as a whole. Besides, by your logic they'd have to talk about every Pokemon game ever, and ain't no one got the time for dat!

What directs have you been watching!? It's always been way wiser to expect little to nothing. For this direct specifically I think everyone is expecting a new mainline Pokemon game as that's the most likely thing to happen, so it actually shouldn't disappoint that many.

Mostly dislike pokemon, but am I correct that Pokken, Zelda and Mario Olympics all come out this month?

I think Mario Olympics comes in June in NA, and it's not confirmed on EU. I might be wrong, though.

Mario Olympics 3DS release on March on Europe, and I think US too.

So the 3DS version comes earlier? Weird. Okey, yeah March 18th in NA, I've just checked. I thought both were releasing the same date.

I've been watching all of them. Only recently (the past year or so) have the Directs gotten less content-packed and more...Memey, but we've still had ones that had actual content to them. The Smash Directs, for example, always end up explaining everything in detail; the Directs in the last year have at least had SOMETHING new to them besides one or maybe two things, spread among quality details of revealed games.

Yeah this five minute trailer is better than XY's four minute trailer and 7 minute history lesson, but only slightly. I'd much rather they explain to a broader audience what the hell Pokken is instead of throwing it out to die, or what this Detective Pikachu is, or even tease other anniversary games than call this bona fide trailer its own Direct. I'm a fan of the whole series, not just mainline games - hell at this point the main series has gotten so stale that I'm only a fan at this point because of the spin-offs. It's gonna take lot to make this a Direct and not just a livestreamed reveal trailer, and I don't think they're gonna do that. It's a disappointment because Pokemon deserves better.

Sounds legit, I'd like to verify the source before getting ridiculously excited about a new gen xDDDDDDDD. I'm into it.

So, yeah, I think I'll buy this. I've just searched Pokémon Moon from the OHIM page and here it is.

Come on, Pokémon Snap 2...

Look, if it IS Z and it blows my mind with what it includes, then I will apologize for ever being against it. If its a generic retread like Platinum then I won't be happy x.x I really hope its something what we arent expecting though

Platinum ended up being far and away the best Pokemon game ever made, so generically retread away Gamefreak. Generically retread away.

I wouldn't call Platinum even close to the best in the series but different strokes for different folks
